Why doesn’t my male coworker talk to me even though we have a lot in common…. What happened?

We already talked and we went to the same college, we live in Texas but we are both from Detroit.. my old boss was his first grade teacher and his mom works at my old school. So I thought we would be cool! I told him we have so much in common ! Just in the moment of meeting eachother maybe I shouldn’t have said that

More than just coworkers and unfortunately a lot of people like to gossip and cause drama , so he is distancing himself from you for that reason , or he is already with someone , and he is being respectful to her , by distancing himself from you. Workplace affairs happen more than we think. So he doesn’t want to give you the wrong impression , he doesn’t hate you he just doesn’t want to take the chance of rumors and gossip spreading around the workplace , that could cause him to lose his job
