Is 4 months too soon to meet his parents?

I've been with this guy for about 3 months now. We are both 28 years old and moving at a pretty steady pace. We've been at each others homes, slept together (no sex yet), gone on a couple of adventures together. We are already talking about future plans for next year.

Next month, in between Christmas and New Years, he asked me if I wanted to meet his parents!

I have already met his friends who live close by and I do know his parents are close by as well! My parents on the other hand, are halfway across the country, since I've moved out over a year ago. He hasn't met mine yet, but my parents do have plans on coming up next year a couple of times!

It feels right and his parents do ask what we are both doing at that time, but what are your stories?

First of all, it's really great that things seem to be progressing well in your relationship so far. From what you describe, it does sound like you've established a strong connection and level of comfort with each other already.

However, meeting the parents is still a big milestone. While 4 months may work for some couples, for others it could still be considered fairly early on. A few things I'd consider:

- Have you both officially defined the relationship? Making it clear you're exclusive could help you feel more secure.

- How comfortable do YOU feel? Don't rush into anything just to please him or his parents. You need to feel 100% ready too.

- Christmas/New Years can add pressure. Perhaps wait until after the holidays to avoid extra stress.

- Have an honest talk with your boyfriend about expectations. Make sure you're both on the same page in terms of commitment level at this stage.

If you do decide to meet them, keep it casual like just exchanging gifts on Christmas. No need to overdo it yet. Trust your gut - if it feels too soon, there's no shame in waiting a little longer. Meeting the parents means nothing to me. Some women have been invited week two "because we were in the area" whereas some waited years because we weren't.
