Authentic isn't a fixed thing. You wouldn't act the same at a job interview or a funeral as you would just hanging with friends. People act differently in different situations. So being on good behavior is not inauthentic. It's part of who you are.

It's only inauthentic if you are totally acting and trying to come across as someone you are not. You wouldn't loudly belch at a job interview, and wouldn't loudly belch on a date. It just shows that you have some sense of what is appropriate in those situations.

and when they didn't have a further interest or intrigue, that's also genuine and not necessarily a bat thing either

Like, being yourself is the best first impression you can give. Maintaining the mask consumes a lot of energy and forces you to remember unfamiliar behavior patterns.

Also, it's better to know from the beginning that something doesn't click. You have time to move on without investing time and emotions.

Be yourself. It's the best version of you.

Being yourself and not trying to make yourself look more interesting that what you are often people exaggerate a lot when they go on a first date or do too much. Just the best version of yourself without putting on an act.

I think doing things together, activity wise, is the best way of doing this. You can demonstrate who you are, instead of convincing someone that you're a good guy.
