How often do people hide their credentials from people they don’t want to date?

If I go to graduate school, I will probably hide that on my social media profile cause I mentioned my dreams to a guy one time and he immediately began to hit on me. He acted like my life had no value at all and then when it seems I’m going to get rich, all of a sudden he wants to marry me. I know other morons that tried to gold dig my family money, around 3 or 4 guys tried to take my money. I remember at 21 I chatted with a Chinese guy my age the whole night at a family party and after the New Year’s party was over, my dad told me he was one of the best students in the entire school. He did not want me to hit on him so he hid his credentials around me.

Well... I think "credentials" are usually used to refer to log-in data, like login and password. These have to be hidden from other people at all times.

As for personal data in general, I'd hide them from anyone I don't want to get to know on a personal level (not necessarily in the context of dating, my friends should know some things about me, as well). I guess it's easier for me as I don't have any social media account, so if I don't give this kind of data face-to-face or through some text chat, they will simply not be found out.

You have to be careful about what you put out there about your self, too much exposure and it's like painting a target on you, in a perfect world yes but in a world full of predators scammers you really have to be careful how much of yourself you really want to expose to the world, and I do mean the world, with the Internet social media being connected world wide just put what you want peopl to know about you not anything personal about you, they must earn that privilege
