Should more bars/pubs/night clubs have singles's night on St. Valentine's Day for those without an signifcant other?

Absolutely! Too many places leave singles out on St. Valentine's Day!

Nah, they can stay home alone! Let this night be for couples in love!

Singles should have their own holiday. National Singles Day first Saturday after St. V day for example.

It doesn't have to be a bunch of people wanting to hook up. The places could have trivia contests, karaoke, and other mixers were people can just meet others and have fun even if they never see each other again.

Ehh. Already a lot of people aren’t happy to be single on Valentine’s in the first place, let alone going to bars/movies/restaurants/etc by themselves, so I doubt the turnout would be rewarding for the singles or very profitable for the businesses. Not when they could’ve welcomed crowds of everyone, single or otherwise and doubled/tripled what their usual income is for that night.


Also, I think location plays a hand in this questioning because there is so much happening in my area on Valentine’s Day! Speed dating and mixer events, specials, etc.


Lastly, I think this holiday is beginning to fade in popularity. It seems like each year, less people are celebrating in big or special ways, or can even afford to go out. I see people even on this site avoiding commitment like the plague and condemning long term relationships, even marriage. It all just seems bleak these days.

It might seem an inclusive act but I think it could lead to a lot of pain if people go there thinking they are looking for a lover and the other person is just using them to pass time and rebuffs them after the day is over.

Other than the 365 days we have in a year. It is far simpler letting those have a date for them.
