My boyfriend was randomly chatting with a fb friend and she said she doesn’t want a guy and likes being single because it’s less stressful- my boyfriend said he agrees….

my boyfriend and I always have a great time together and he’s super Hppy with me he always tells me…

was this general advice for this 24 year olds situation? Or is it because he’s unhappy with me?

Oh man, that's kinda weird that he agreed being single is less stressful to some random person on Facebook. Even if it was just making conversation, doesn't seem like the kind of thing you say when you're in a relationship.

I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions that he's unhappy with you since you said things are usually great between you guys. But I'd definitely be a little suspicious about why he was saying that. Was this some new person he's been chatting with a lot?

I'd probably ask him about it, like just casually be like "so what was that about earlier, agreeing single life is less stressful?" See how he reacts and what he says. If he gets all defensive, that's not a good sign. But hopefully he just laughs it off and was speaking hypothetically in the conversation.

Definitely something I'd be keeping my eye on. Maybe check out who this person even is that he's talking to so casually. I wouldn't worry too much yet since you say you guys are usually happy. But that was a weird thing to tell someone else in my opinion. Just play it cool for now but keep your guard up a little too, you know?

Yeah honestly from the info you gave it really does sound like it was probably just a hypothetical/general conversation about that random girl's individual situation. I doubt he was trying to hint at anything deeper about your relationship.

Guys can say dumb stuff without thinking through how it might come across sometimes. And it's easy to chat casually with strangers online without meaning anything by it. I wouldn't automatically assume he's unhappy with you just because of that one comment about her preferring single life in her specific scenario.

Unless he's acting differently towards you or y'all are having actual issues, I'd try not to read between the lines too much here. It sounds like you guys have a good thing going otherwise. At the end of the day actions speak louder than random Facebook chatter, you know? As long as he's still treating you well I wouldn't stress it. He's with you! That what matters.

A lot of women do not understand that a man values freedom over everything else and when he gets in a relationship, he is giving this up. That is the default perspective a lot of the time. If he has chosen to give up his freedom to be with you, then I will assume it is worth his while.

Being in relationship IS stressful- if you take it seriously. You know how an offhanded comment from someone you care about hurts more than one from a stranger? Same thing; if you care about someone, you care about them, and that means they have the power- that you have GIVEN them the power- to make you feel bad.

That's not all that it means, obviously, but it DOES mean that. You matter to him, and that means he can't take you lightly. It's not a bad thing.

I think he agreed with her just to be nice and it may have very well been applicable in her case. I don't think that is how he feels about the two of you, if you get along well like you say above.

If it's bothering you though, then ask if he's unhappy, best to catch it now than wait. My girlfriend and I have that conversation about once a month. I like to know that we are still connected and on track in the relationship.

It’s definitely true, it’s less stressful being single but it’s also lonely so we take the good with the bad when in a relationship because a little more stress with someone you want to be with is usually worth it compared to being alone so he was just agreeing with her
