Is modern dating more of a chore than it used to be?

I have been trying for years on dating sites to find at least one person, Whenever I do match with someone they are either a bot, they flake and don't want to talk, or they live too far away. It's not worth it to be honest. People don't want to talk and get to know each other anymore.

I’ve been dating since around 13, yes it changes, is it harder not as such. When you say you have been trying for years to date, then say it’s using dating sites, that’s like saying I sit at home all day looking online for dates. The idea is to socialise and interact with people in the flesh, to meet people, some we get on with some we don’t. Some we date some we don’t. Where it does get harder is when you get older there are less people to date, this reduces the overall options people have. Also having unrealistic expectations is great for keeping people single.

I am from the olden days when relationships came naturally.

My first boyfriend/first love went on one date, he just kept calling me everyday to see me and I was automatically his girlfriend and he was my boyfriend. We were together for three years.
I broke up with him because I didn't like that he smoked pot all day and night. I don't do that.

Six months later I met another guy and we got married six weeks later. We were married for four years and had a son together.

The big difference I see now is that social media has literally destroyed relationships. Too many things can happen to ruin what might have been a good relationship.

I was reluctant to answer this question because of my age, but I just wanted to give you an idea of how relationships were before social media.

Yes, it's not easy finding a lover in 2024, there's many reasons why it's challenging to find love but it's doable. I think the best way to do it is to just date in person and look for love in person not online.

I am out of the dating scene since 2020 but, for me, dating was much easier as I got older. I had great success with online dating. I had seven significant dating partners between 2007 and 2020, and I met each of them online. Next month, I will be marrying the last lady I met online. She is the nicest woman I have ever dated.

Ask someone out in real life. Most guys are too scared to approach so you'll have hardly any competition. With a little practice it's so easy.

On my end, they are high maintenance on looks and physical appearance. So I know how you feel also with me some have low self-esteem.
