My boyfriend hooked up with this girl before we started dating. We’ve now been together six months. Everything is good at this point and looking toward a future together. All the sudden last week, this girl text him that she’s not feeling well and is going to take a pregnancy test and will let him know the results. He asked who it was and she wouldn’t give her name just said you don’t remember me?
She said the test was positive. He said he hadn’t seen her and that if it was his she would have to be 6-7 months pregnant and he doesn’t know why she’d wait that long. Also I know there are things such as cryptic pregnancy but it doesn’t make much sense if she’s that far along that she just now saying something.
He said he thinks she is lying especially bc of the time factor. Also he tried to ask her about it again and no response. Then she came back today just small talk made no mention of a baby at all.
He did tell me right away so he wasn’t trying to hide it. Also told his mom and siblings said he didn’t want to lie to them about what was going on. He also knows I am leaving if it is true that alleged kid is his.
He said he going to take a DNA test then if it’s not his we have nothing to worry about. So it’s not like it is under the bus, but my friend says he probably cheated on me and is just not being honest about the timing and that if he told me and his mom it’s likely he thinks it’s possible it’s his.
If my friend is wrong and he’s being truthful that he was only with her before we dated and it’s not his I’m ok with that. I realize there were plenty of times I could have gotten pregnant and lucked out. So I’m not trying to be hard on him I know stuff happens and it may not be his. But I’m also not trying to be an idiot. I know he’s the kind of person that would be a presence in his kids life even if it wasn’t with that woman. What should I do in the meantime till we know for sure?

Well sis, this is definitely a tricky situation. A few thoughts:
- I wouldn't necessarily assume he cheated yet. It's possible the timing is just weird, or she's lying about when they hooked up.
- That said, I can see why your friends would say that. 6-7 months would be crazy late to just be finding out.
- Him telling you and his family right away is a good sign he wants to be honest at least.
- Definitely smart to get the DNA test. That'll provide clarity one way or the other.
In the meantime, I think all you can do is take him at his word for now but make it clear you expect 100% honesty no matter what. Reiterate you'll leave if it turns out to be his.
Keep your guard up a little - don't get too comfortable until you know for sure. But try not to accuse him of anything either. Let the test do the talking.
And lean on your girlfriends for support! This waiting period would stress anyone out. Just take it one step at a time. Wishing you the best outcome, sis! Keep me posted how it plays out.
This is easily determined after birth. What should you do? You can t talk to him about how you will feel if it's his child.
I guess you'll find out in a few months if it's a lie or not
