Will a man treat the woman he cheated with better?

I have a friend who was in an emotionally abusive relationship. She was good to him and had a pure heart, but her boyfriend treated her like shit. He never made her feel good enough. He cheated with another woman, and had to leave her because he got this woman pregnant. Do men treat the next woman better/ will he change if he really wants her? (Even if he was abusive in his previous relationship)

Yes, he was very manipulative and lied about a lot of things. But she didn’t realize they were lies until she found out he cheated, which was a few months after. He didn’t tell her he cheated and got another girl pregnant. He just left and said it was because of her, but refused to go into detail.
