Guy friend said he needs to meet my mother?

my guy friend who I secretly have feelings for called my mother sweet in a conversation regarding her and said he “needs” to meet my mother. I didn’t think we were that close and I found it slightly random because I would personally never ask to meet any of his family.. because I just find it a tad bit weird to be honest. am I being delusional. what does it mean…?

Ooh that's kind of an odd thing for him to say to be honest. I'd be a bit weirded out too if a guy friend said he "needs" to meet my mom. Here's what I think it might mean:

- He could be into you too and trying to make a good impression on mom so she approves if anything happens between you two. Like getting the parents approval route.

- Might be trying to subtly let you know he's into you more than friends and starting a meet the family kind of deal.

- Could be less romantic and more like he genuinely likes chatting with your mom when you all hang out so wants a proper intro.

- Possibly just said it without thinking and didn't mean anything deep by it. Guys aren't always the best with words.

I'd just play it cool for now and see if he gives any other signals he likes you. If it comes up again you could say something like "hah you're so weird, you'll scare her off" - try to get his intentions straight without admitting how you feel yet. Let me know how it goes!
