If you became unbelievably wealthy, would you pretend to be poor and why?

I know my boyfriend does not like people who use him for money, but I did not know he was rich when I first decided I like him 16 years ago. He turned me down cause I was too young. 16 years has passed and he seems interested now.

I would probably live pretty similarly - I’d probably live in a better area, maybe a cool house… probably still with roommates unless I was getting married.


Probably similar car, but it might be a little more “decked out.” (Rear camera, parking assist, remote start, Onstar, probably a panel system… probably sync more into my business and just live off the money.

I would hide my money / not draw attention to not be taken advantage of, not be taken a fool, not robbed, and not constantly harassed for money….
Also I would want to be humble and not uptight like the rich stuck up idiots.

A friend’s family of mine reminds me of ALL these things.

If I was raising kids? I would definitely raise them in more standard conditions for them to grow up well-rounded and aware. If I was just by myself? I'd just attain a fair amount of assets before enjoying whatever I want.

I wouldn't pretend to be "poor," but I'd certainly live a low key quiet lifestyle. The less people that know, the better. I wouldn't want to be taken advantage of, would you?

I wouldn't pretend anything. I would be very conservative. I would buy land and build my house. But as far as anyone would know is I was using a loan to do this. Not paying outright. But this way I can have my house the way I want it. I'd pay off my wife's car, trade it in towards a new one. and act like we were making payments on it. Realistically my lifestyle it self wouldn't change much. Still work everyday and keeping on keeping on.

I do not wear my "assets" if that's what you mean now. So I'd like to think if I became "unbelievably wealthy" this fact would not change about me. Money does not make you a better person.

No. But I wouldn't behave much differently. I might go shopping more often, but I still wouldn't buy overpriced things on principle.

I’m not even wealthy, but I use my buddies 2007 Corolla for first dates rather than my 2019 Tacoma. Shows me whether she is there for me or what I have.

I have money and I just keep quiet about it, but I have a nice house and car, I don't hide it in that way.
