If you are just in the talking stage with a girl should you expect to text each other everyday, and should the guy always text first?

Sigh... Ok, so my guy and I were recently debating this. Why? I like for the guy to "lead" in the relationship... just the way he would if we were dancing. I think it's nice. However, it's also nice to occasionally see the girl text first to show that she's actively thinking about you... GIVING you attention and not ONLY responding to your attention. It creates more of a balance to things and allows both of you to feel happy at different intervals. Get it?

So sit down and talk with your girl. Tell her what you like... It doesn't have to be a long serious discussion. You can tease her about it a little or tell her why you think it would be nice to hear from her first every once in a while... A reasonable girl will see the light and do this with you so that texting doesn't ultimately become a chore for you rather than an expression of affection.

(This should be particularly basic for someone your age -- also presuming that both you and your girl are mature adults around the same age.)

You don't have to text every single day, no. In fact that can actually wear you both out and make you feel like you have to always say something, and then it can cause the interest to fade. You want to leave room for wonder, and you don't want to always just be saying random stuff to keep up the conversation.

No, the guy should not always text first. When you're a guy always texting first it gives the appearance that you don't have much else on your mind or much else to do other than texting a girl. Let some silence fill the space and make her wonder what you're up to and want to talk to you.

I would hope they knew how to communicate properly and not text at all.
