for example, if I’m at a Christmas party or if I’m at an event for singles, I am afraid to talk to people first sometimes because I know most of them were going to turn out to be jerks to me. Do I need to get over that fear And go for it? I guess if they don’t seem in to me after a minute or two I would just move on I don’t know. It’s pretty obvious if responses are short and they don’t ask you questions back. but then it’s like do I just go from girl to girl at these things? And if they’re not alone, it gets harder.

Yeah man, I feel you. Approaching new people can definitely be nerve-wracking, especially at parties or events where you don't know many people. A few things that might help:
- Remember that most folks are probably feeling a little nervous or self-conscious too. Everyone's just trying to have a good time and meet cool people.
- Start with open-ended questions that allow the other person to share, like asking what brought them to the event or what their favorite holiday traditions are. People usually like talking about themselves.
- Pay attention to body language and if they seem engaged or like they want to keep chatting. No need to force it if they seem disinterested.
- Smile and make eye contact. Friendly body language can make a big difference in coming across confident and approachable.
- Don't be afraid to move on if a conversation fizzles. You don't want to get stuck talking to someone boring! But also don't give up too fast if it's just a little awkward at first.
- Introduce people if you're chatting with a group. Make others feel included.
Overall I'd say put yourself out there more. You never know who you might meet. And the more you do it, the easier it'll get. Just go in with an open mindset to meet cool folks, not necessarily score dates right away. You've got this!

Most people could do with better people skills.
I completed a public speaking course. Give that a go.
Oh I am GREAT at public speaking if you put me on a stage with a faceless crowd.
It's the personalization I have trouble with.
