Absolutely you should be worried. Take him at his word... until he says different words.

That's a fucked up thing for him to say. Whether you were fighting or not.

I am not saying he is actually going to do it. (I have no idea. I know nothing about either of you).

I am saying that he 100% meant those words when he said them. He wasn't bluffing, he means it.

That can certainly change, but not until he tells you that he didn't mean it; or apologize. Somehow he needs to tells you, in words, that this isn't what he's still planning to do.

That might be something he does on his own (I don't know him). Or, this is something you need to explicitly address with him--tomorrow, or when things have cooled-down. You do need to confirm that he no longer means what he said during the fight.

So, if you two had a fight, and you're in the one room and he's somewhere else in the house... then you really don't need to worry. You'll each go to sleep, and hopefully wake up less angry, and able to talk.

If however, he stormed off after the fight, and left the house after saying that? Then yes, you should be worried about this.

Probably yes you should be worried. However, the context of the argument may have brought this up and it was on his mind because of that. It may be just bluster to get a rise and anger you because he's angry but that he's thought about it suggests he's not happy about the dynamic between you two.
