Is it weird that I'm kind of down about not being able to see him this weekend?

So he asked me what I'm doing this weekend and I said nothing. Then I asked him what he is doing and he says his dad's birthday is this Saturday so I won't be able to see him which is just a bummer (I know I need to find something to do with my weekend). But we made plans to see each other the next weekend to see a movie at the movie theater near my house.

Not sure if he will want to come back to my house again but I'm hoping so because movie theater dates don't give you a chance to converse and get deeper.

Am I weird for being down though about not seeing him this weekend?

I realize I'm getting attached already and that's not good.

I think it is fully appropriate that you feel kinda down about that. Honestly, this bums me out too! I don't even have feeling for this guy, and I'm disappointed. You're allowed to be down for this. This was a date you were excited for, and it sucks to have those plans delayed when you're expecting the date so soon.

He will hope that you'll end up inviting him back to your place after. He'll definitely say yes to that.

You are appropriately attached. It IS good.

I would be the first to tell you if you seemed to be over-extending in feeling more attached than you should. You are not.

You're attached because the two of you have an uncommonly good start to this.

As long as it's mutual (and it is). You are not getting too attached.

Thinking you are getting too attached, when you're not... is about the only way you can fuck this up. (because then you change your behavior accordingly)

Thanks. I hope he does because I really want to go deeper with him. And thanks for reassuring me that I'm not over doing it. I honestly can't wait to get out of the talking phase. It kind of sucks. I miss being in an actual relationship. Not that I'm trying to rush things, I'm certainly not but I just hate this part of dating. Hopefully things go really well. I'll keep you posted.

The guy’s dad’s bday is one day, not the whole week. He knows this. He could have said, “Babe it’s my dad’s bday on _(Sat)__ but let me know if we can meet on _(Fri/Sun)_.” I’m sure there would be a million excuses not to meet during the week, but he should have asked you. He didn’t.

Yes I do and I have taken all of what you said into account. The only reason why I'm even giving him leeway is because I know he works a 10 hr shift even on Saturdays so that doesn't give him much time to spend with me if he's going to celebrate the birthday with his dad that night. He said he didn't know whether it would be Sat night or Sun. So I'm just giving him leeway. But I do have other matches and I will probably start giving them a chance if this doesn't seem to pan out which it's looking like it might not. I'm not sure.

Yea never settle for anyone that doesn’t make you a top priority , someone that really likes you is going to make you a top priority and look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible , they aren’t going to make lame excuses not to see you , Like Oh it’s my Dad’s Birthday? There is no way in hell that he is going to be with his Dad for 24 hours for his Birthday , unless they are going away on a trip together , then that would be understandable and that would be something that he would tell you immediately after being asked that question. So the fact that he is using that as an excuse not to see you , is totally a red flag that you shouldn’t ignore whatsoever. I remember I went on a date with a girl and I felt the date went well because we ended up kissing , when I asked her what she was doing this coming weekend , she told me her plans , so I said aww that sucks , I was going to see If you wanted to get together , she immediately said yes we can , And explained what time she would be free , that right there shows that someone is really interested in you because they look forward to seeing you the same way you look forward to seeing them. When someone doesn’t fully explain why they can’t see you because of lame excuses like it’s My Dad’s Birthday , you are best to make plans with your friends’ or someone else that has been showing interest in you as well. Never have Sucker written on your head when it comes to dating because you are single and you can do whatever the fuck you want to , especially when someone isn’t giving you the same as you are giving them. When I really like a girl , I will find time to see her , no matter what I have planned, unless I am going away somewhere , but even so , I will explain that to her

That's true. I am definitely going to try to have a fun weekend with friends and not think about it too much. I am also taking note of this and seeing it as a red flag. I will still give him the benefit of a doubt because he does work Saturdays and if he's going out to dinner with his family for his Dad's birthday that evening or night, then that doesn't leave much time for him to come see me or I see him on that Saturday so I guess he was just thinking it would be best to just wait until the following weekend to see each other. But again I do see it as a red flag and have other matches so I'm not totally invested in just him just yet.

I experience the same things when it comes to dating , dating to me means i am single and i can date whoever I want to until I find a girl that chooses me the same way I choose her , there was a time I dated 7 girls’ at one time , because I was honest and upfront about taking things slow and weighing my options , giving them a choice on whether they wanted to continue dating me or not , They all chose to keep dating me. Why don’t you change plans if it is okay with him and maybe do a mid week dinner at your place. Plan a meal with him and cook together and sit and watch. That would give you both time for plenty of conversation; both deep and lighthearted. Just a thought if you feel you are ready for something like that?
