Honest, but be tactful. So the answer to that can't be "yea, kinda." That's just not going to go well.

But you can let her know in a very gentle way if she has indeed gained weight. You're not supposed to deny the evidence you can both see. That would be kinda crazy. If it's a bad dress, tell her it's the dress. If she's no fatter than she was when you first fell for her, then tell her "no" as per usual.

It's not something you need to lie about. Just be careful of how you choose to express yourself.

I don't believe in those trap questions. I'm not going to take shit for answering that honestly, if a girlfriend asks. Don't ask questions like that if you don't want an answer to.

It's a horrible way to fish for a compliment. It's a silly question to ever ask as boyfriend usually. You might as well say "tell be I don't look fat." that's no problem. Asking this, and getting upset if the answer isn't what you hoped, is a problem. And not mine.
