Yeah it's rude. Instead of skipping meals, have you considered just tracking calories and comparing it against your estimated daily calorie intake? You can make small adjustments until you are losing weight or at your goal weight.
If you want to do some reading, take a look at what intermittent fasting (what you are unintentionally doing) does to your insulin and growth hormone levels.
By not eating breakfast snd lunch you're putting your metabolism into starvation mode and making bit easier to gain weight you have to eat to lose weight.
It is very rude and insulting.
