Guys, why do you get disgusted or shocked about when a woman is tall?

So every-time I went on dates, guys are shocked about how tall I really am and they cancel or ghost me. Or I get no second date. Like really?
There are women above 5’6. So yesterday after work, I was getting ready for my date and when I showed up for dinner, this guy was very shocked that I was really tall. He was like, “GODDAMN! I didn’t know you were THIS tall! You weren’t kidding when you said you’re 6’4.”

I said, “Yeah I told you. So shall we?”

He said, “I’m sorry but I’m going to have to cancel this date. I can’t be seen with a giant. This is quite frankly, embarrassing and problematic. Don’t call me, text me or try to contact me ever again. GIANT BITCH.” And he walked off.

Wow……. seriously? I understand men have preferences but they need to get over it. Short and average women, even tall women (5’8-5’11) aren’t the only women in the world. the thing is, he’s 6’5.
He seemed very friendly when I met him through a mutual friend in texting.

Why do men get disgusted when a woman is tall? Why is that a problem.

That's super messed up. The cancelled date. That's unbelievable (I believe you).

This guy is not representative of men's reactions to tall women. He was for some reason personally offended in the extreme... by the fact that you're tall. His reaction is over-the-top. Even if he had a problem with your height, cancelling a date because he'd feel embarrassed? That guy's got some issues of his own to work out. Please don't think one crazy asshole means anything about men in general.

I first saw this question and was like: "what the fuck? Disgusted?"

This guys reaction was so inappropriate that it's bewildering that he could even have made a pretense of seeming nice. Only a rude asshole who has his own particular hangups about tall women could ever have acted this way.

I don't really care if a woman is really tall. It would be shocking only insofar as it's unusual. I wouldn't be put-off by it though. It doesn't matter. I'm so sorry it seems to have mattered a whole lot to this guy.

I can't comment on your other experiences, but this one... is not one to read-into. You found a weirdo who revealed he's just a rude asshole. Don't read too much into it. Most guys are not like this guy.

Tall women are gorgeous and in my opinion a gift to men. If a man is reluctant to date a tall girl. He must have lost his confidence. I would be ashamed if my height was the only thing that I based my self confidence on. Are you saying I am scared of you because you are taller than me. Were you planning to abuse her if she was smaller. I was attracted to my first real crush because she was a tall red head. Taller than me but also looked like a woman not a girl. I felt like a kid in her presence. I regret not stepping up to date her. She died while attending FSU in 69 or 70.

I'm 6' but I'm 53. I'm a widower who's a single dad to a boy of 6. I lost my right leg in 2020 and I'm down to 3 toes on the left foot. I'm 220lbs, 52" chest, 38" waist and I've been known to not suffer fools at all, nevermind gladly.

I'm not asking, I'm just pointing out your height may alarm some guys. It wouldn't bother me, but I don't know many women who'd take on a single dad over 50. Nevermind with my other issues.

There was no need for his rude behavior. He should have just said you two were incompatible and move on.

Tall women are very rare, but short men number in the hundreds of millions and have to deal with the same problems. It must suck for both.

Maybe try a Nordic country where many people are tall. That's the only realistic suggestion I can think of.

I feel badly for you because I bet it is difficult being as tall as you are and trying to function in the dating world. But you have what you have. Well, that's his problem but, if he was with you for 1.5 years, then I don't think your height was the problem.

I am glad to see you are OK with men that short because that's a substantial difference from your height which, I belive, is 6-foot-4 so that's a 9-inch height difference.

Trust me when I say there are plenty of men shorter than you who'd dream of being with a woman like you.
