Dating apps are for finding a match when scenarios in normal life fail, though can easily fall into the realm of “hookup site” where guys n gals just join for sexual encounters not real relationships. One Night Stand, that kind of thing.

I’ve also seen young women and men fall for those looking to take advantage. They know the individual is desperate, it is written on their face so they’ll pretend to be a ‘partner’ in the bare minimum of ways just to get free food , sexual thrills , or money / gifts.

Basically, there is no harm in trying new things or getting out of your comfort zone to meet your soulmate or a short fling though it is important to know what you are looking for in a potential partner , a relationship , and not sell yourself short by settling with someone you really don’t want to be with. Be careful who you choose too, since too many people get their hearts ripped out, money taken, and just used for sex like a fleshlight… Use your head / seek guidance about such matters.

I used dating sites in 2007-2008, 2015, 2017, 2019-2020. I met many nice women, had a few long term (at least 2 years) relationships, and met my future wife on a dating site in December 2020. We got married in April 2024, and we are now in the process of buying a house.

Many young people have no success on dating sites because their social skills in general are deficient (too much time spent as a refugee in the digital world,) and many people just don't know how to modify their approach for dating sites. They blame the dating sites instead of themselves and then call others "losers" because they don't know how to handle the sour grapes.

I don't care if some young punks call me a loser; their anger simply reflects on their personality. I found a great woman online and I expect to be with her for the rest of my life. I'm one of the winners!

Dating apps are convenient for the busy people, the introverts, and those with a bit of social anxiety.

Majority of people on there I find, are in one of those categories.

The busy people are usually quite successful, work a whole hell of a lot, and don't find the time to go out much.

The introverts find it easier to just go on a dating app vs go out and find someone because it takes away from having to get to know someone organically (which is not what I would recommend but it allows for an introvert to try to find another introverted person without all the work)

And then there's the socially inept or anxiety filled. These people need help socializing and a dating app could be the first step in getting out there.

I wouldn't say any of these folks are desperate or losers, just find it more convenient to go the dating app route than to go out and find someone.

Yes, I firmly do believe it, especially now. It's also ideal for players.

Let's say you're on a date with a guy. He's a nice guy, engaging and all that. He checks his phone... is it some notification about some other gal who's within a yard of him who is "hot and available"? Who knows? Aren't you (and the possible gals he's meeting and engaging) good enough?

And just because YOU aren't on all the apps doesn't mean that HE isn't on ALL the apps (and vice versa). It's a terrible catch22 crafted by desperately horny losers.

Does that mean that the discerning person looking for love on an app can't find one? No, but it means they have to be VERY VERY vigilant and not just gullibly presume the other person is also innocently working their way to love.

I have been on dating sites for over ten years. In the end, I found my wife this way.

There is simply no alternative anymore, noe that everyone is constantly online. Every woman I met offline... Either already in a relationship or just not interested. And the volunteer work I did at the time... The percentage of women there was very low, and none of them around my age (the few women there were too old for me).

Finding another hobby? Going to cafes and bars? Not an option; if I am doing something I don't like doing, that will show, and therefore it won't work.

Dating sites can take a long time, as most women just don't react to first messages, or they start ghosting you after the first date (which is extremely rude. The number of women who manage to reject you in a polite way is shockingly low). But succes can happen, if you just don't give up looking around.

Women experience the same thing if not more so. Being Ghosted. We as women wait for the man to ask us out... its been disastrous asking a man out, always leads to rejection or cancels. Good for you! I've met man, many men in real life, at Events and social outings and men are just not pursuing as much. They may like me, make no move towards it.

I don't like them, but I don't necessarily think that they are for desperate people. Just not for me. What I never "got" was when the app shows you to be a very good match with everything in common, and you send a message to the lady, and you don't hear back. To me it was a waste of time.

I believe that sincere men and women give dating apps a try. Unfortunately what they find there includes the scum of society. Picking it apart to determine who's who is a lot of work and they are bound to get it wrong once in a while. They aren't losers and desperate people. But they become cynical and angry people with trust issues after getting burned a few times. I still insist that the old fashioned way, face to face, is the best.

I've never used them but I do think that they are scams and that they prey off stuff like desperation. I know some even make you pay to use even their most basic features and that the whole algorithm is very skewed unless you pay to increase your chances almost like gambling.

Dating apps are for people who cannot get dates in real life or predators looking to take advantage of others online.

No decent looking , sociable person would ever feel the need to go on a dating app.
