Guys, If a guy says he's looking for a deep connection what's it really mean?

I asked his dating intentions and that's all he said. I'm personally looking for a long term relationship so I try to ask guys first to suss them out if I can. He said he's looking for a deep connection and that we should meet in town tomorrow. But I'm wary of what a deep connection means it sounds awfully vague.

Initially, I wouldn't trust anyone's answer to the question of "dating intentions".

Because I wouldn't expect her to know what they want right from the start. I would not expect her to have one wish at the expense of the other wishes. Instead, I would figure out, in time, what she really wants based on how she behaves, based on her behavioral pattern, on her discourse, on her choices, on her past.

Based on what she says and what she doesn't say.
