Trending & News Heavy agree on the ghosting and situationships. Another toxic thing is expecting the perfect partner. I think it’s good to know when to give up on something but it seems like no one wants to try and make relationships work anymore. If they don’t like a minor thing or if there’s a small disagreement, they’re quick to try and move onto the next person when that’s not how relationships work. You’re supposed to both put effort into it.
A similar thing to that is the whole “if they wanted to they would mentality” sometimes they genuinely don’t know it’s something you wanted them to say or do. You have to communicate that to them
Ghosting I do find toxic but honestly - that's nothing new, people have been disappearing on love intrests forever.
For me I think it's the desire for perfection, desire to get it all - wrapped in one person, with no place for flaws or mistakes.
Had a wonderful first date with a girl I fell hard for, we FaceTimed frequently, talked deeply. We’re very open and honest and vulnerable. Good chemistry and vibes and physical touch on the first date. Then she kind of ghosted. I don’t think I’ve ever been so hurt. Even when an ex of years cheated.
I don’t get people. Love is worth committing. Grow a pair. Be affectionate. Take the risk.
Right.
I get ya... abandonment and rumination of what went wrong.
I've had that happen to me, and a lot of times, one reason can be because she's also been corresponding with other guys, and she found someone whom she likes better, but can't bring herself to tell you, so she either ghosts, or finds something about you that she doesn't like, and then cites it as being a deal breaker, etc. This is especially likely to be the case if she's of above average attractiveness.
Selfishness basically don’t date anyone , if you can’t remove selfishness for them , the same way you expect them to remove it for you. Selfishness is one of the biggest relationship killers and pretty much the reason most relationships end. Unfortunately Social media played a big part in making people selfish , by wanting their cake and eating it to

Entitlement. A lot of women expect the man to pay for everything while they enjoy the benefits. It's not about the effort they put in. It's about the effort their partner puts in for them.
A lot of growing selfish 😞😭 out there
One of the best things about a relationships is committing the bond the intense feeling that come from that is to beautiful not having
Situationships, hookups, and “ethical non-monogamy”
@Avicenna
Nah you are just presuming that your personal preference is better.
Humans are neither a monogamous nor polygamous species but a mix of both.
Forcing polygamous people into monogamy creates just cheaters and disappointed monogamous people.
Societal disadvantage is that some males fail to compete and a lower birth rate but there is no putting this genie back into the bottle.
@Pohjolan: LOL, you shouldn’t make assumptions about my personal preferences.
The things I mentioned are consistent with higher levels of mental illness, STDs, societal instability, and poor social outcomes (as well as financial ones), especially for the children resulting from this sexual activity.
You seem to have missed that I’m not telling anyone else what to do. Maybe you need to do the same.
And none of those things I mentioned could ever approximate the positives a couple gets from a good relationship. You act as if all relationships are invalidated because done end due to the same type of behavior I correctly identified as harmful.
@Avicenna
"You seem to have missed that I’m not telling anyone else what to do."
If you claim that certain behaviour is toxic then you are for all practical purposes.
"And none of those things I mentioned could ever approximate the positives a couple gets from a good relationship."
Do you consider a relationship with a cheater a good one?
"You act as if all relationships are invalidated because done end due to the same type of behavior"
No.
"behavior I correctly identified as harmful."
Nah that's still just your opinion.
@Pohjolan: Again, you pretend that there are no good relationships and everyone’s cheating, so no one in your opinion should have one. That’s ridiculous.
Pointing out the obvious about toxic behavior is not telling others what to do- if you think that, you need to grow a thicker skin and improve your reading comprehension.
@Avicenna
"Again, you pretend that there are no good relationships and everyone’s cheating, so no one in your opinion should have one."
No. Are you pretending that social pressure will turn polyamorous people monogamous?
"Pointing out the obvious about toxic behavior is not telling others what to do- if you think that, you need to grow a thicker skin and improve your reading comprehension."
So you are fine with toxic behaviour of others?
"While we’re at it- can you point out some examples of what you think are successful societies based on polyamory?"
What do you consider a successful society. Like was Rome a successful society lasting over 2 millenia but ultimately collapsing?
There are societies mixing polyamory and monogamy which can be considered relatively successful though like modern day USA for a example.
This goes along the two mentioned by OP, but I call it 'grass is greener' syndrome. Everyone thinks they have better options all the time. While there may be options, they usually aren't quality options. Which I like to call 'miles wide and inches deep'
People thinking it's reasonable to expect that they can get everything they need out of a singular person.
That shit just isn't realistic.
You need more then one person to make you complete. You need a network of individuals to create balance in your life. Everyone with their individual roles.
“One thing?
The obsession with keeping options open.
People treat each other like placeholders half in, half out, always ‘seeing what else is out there.’
It kills depth, kills trust,
and turns dating into a revolving door instead of an actual connection.
You can’t build something real when everyone is afraid to choose."
That most women who sign up to dating platforms are already in a committed relationship, but nevertheless think nothing of letting a guy take them out, spend a hefty sum of money on dinner, drinks, parking, etc -- only to tell him when he calls her for a second date that she's decided to stay with her boyfriend.
I have never experienced ghosting, and I don't know anyone into situationships, so I can't agree with you there.
I think the most toxic thing is that people have a toxic mindset created by social media. For example, if people truly followed all the advice posted here, they might as well give up now.
People that are looking for someone are usually messaging multiple people at once. I'm guilty of it too. I've literally been texting with a woman and there's a delay between messages, because we're both texting other people as well. There's a lot of competition and options these days. Maybe too much sometimes.
Wow, where to start. So many relationships start out with - if not outright lies than the best version of the truth, take 100 selfies to find the right one-fuck, those are the honor students, people using photos out of date, of someone else, polishing your "resume". I couldn't do it
You are 33, the ones who were ready for a commitment have found someone. There are some still out there but you are several years away from having a marriage and baby so it is getting late.
But guys are out there ready for commitment but they are sitting at home playing video games, D&D and hanging out with close friends. Not sure how you break that barrier.
I'm 31.5 and content that it's all sailed past me by ⚓🔱 lol 😆
Because of the fear of sexual assault created by the feminism culture making men afraid of making any moves. The girls are expecting man to be man but the guys are afraid of expressing their sexual desires.
This is the most fucked up overall scenario.
I feel like relationships don't start from love but as a contest between guys to hook the most beautiful girl out there so everyone own personality own identity is killed in this process everyone wants to be the best he can to increase his chances not to show his own self and because this is temporary and of course he is going to be himself when the fight and contest ends the problems begin because the girl was seeing a thing that is made up
guys who just want sex.
people looking to be with each other when times are good but ditch when times are bad.
Believing that finding love will be the solution to all of life's problems.
People have just been watching too many disney romance movies.
Ghosting, breadcrumbing, and situationships — where ambiguity and low effort replace honesty and commitment. Many treat dating like a game of options rather than a search for connection. Real intimacy requires courage, not convenience. 💔🎭
Being able to hide behind the digital world. We start off meeting online and there is just so much left unknown and created without reality. It’s easy for people to mold into someone else until reality hits. It’s dangerous.
People focus too much on their options than building something meaningful and work through it.
Very much agree on "situationships". Seriously, that stupid word makes me nauseous.
How casual sex is. That's my number one gripe. The amount of people who expect their date to put out in two weeks or even on the first date is disturbing and gross to me.
Doing illicit drugs and/or drinking alcohol 🍸 is toxic in a relationship. Those people like to argue too much for me!!
its brought me to tears a number of times
I was all in ready to commit too... the men were unwell
Benefits to being in a relationship are expected to be increasing and persistent and evolving throughout else people get bored.
When someone acts single with you and is interested but they’re with someone else. 🙄🤮Sorry. Personal example.
Swype & go
Never look at the character, only the outside look.
As with a lot of things, social media. Too much snooping and trying to figure each others lives out based on some pictures and posts that they don’t really have any idea about.
Insane expectations. Loser guys who are out-of-shape, boring, and depressing thinking they deserve happy super models, and women expecting guys who make a minimum of $500K.
Situationship is just a more polite word for fuckbuddies.
And its not toxic. People choose those arrangements because they prefer it over being single or in a relationship.
Ghosting is as is catfishing, cockteasers, AI pretending to be human and scammers.
I always say thet there are no shortcuts and hookups will not make you happy.
The term ''toxic'', I reckon.
Anything else is just a ''mismatch''.
Online date sites and apps ain't anymore about anything but free ego boost for girls, massive expensive bills for nothing to guys!
Trump. If they votes for him it's a great heads up they are insane.
@Chazmatazz269 TDS is reserved solely for his fanbase. You have to be insane to believe that 💩
@Jersey2 You missed the Q entirely as my honesty triggered you.
If I ever start dating then I could tell you.
If the guy expecting too much after date, he assume that it has a chance to be officially boyfriend and girlfriend
The biggest problem I've encountered is women not wanting to be a part of the household and contribute or they are woke af and hate men
People often confuse strength with arrogance. And call starting unnecessary fights "standing up for yourself."
It’s a complete disaster What do you think I’m single
False accusations made by women against men.
When people don't respect other people's privacy - that's toxic.
What you said plus double standards
Feminism. Feminism has contributed to destroying why a lot of people don’t want to commit today.
premarital sex in all honestly
not having premarital sex would legit solve so many issues in the dating market
Lack of communication and commitment
Everything. What's right is a better question.
Those are two big ones
Lol 😂 I hear ya
People lying about not being married.
Some still want to commit 😇😇😇💒
Something toxic? Hmm - social media bragging 😁😁😁
No loyalty only casual hookups 🤧
Being untrustworthy and being unhonest.
Swiping on dating sites
Hook up sites are pretty rank
People that talk too damn much.
Misread your question.
The sleeping around. It creates nothing but mistrust.
What even is a "situationship"?
Often sounds like a relationship equivalent to a friends with benefits because "there was no one else hotter around" lol 😆
The whole hook up culture is toxic
Same things you said
Gaslighting.
Ghosting and entitlement
Ghosting and commitment
Hooking up.
Men and women. Lol.
I agree
