well depending on where you live , and your friends/family... just consider that he might have a lot more things to take into account when talking to another race.

Even here in NL (Netherlands) , we still see those phobias and all associated premonitions when it comes to mixed couples.

And it happens with Arab families as well as NL born and even our black communities have it (sometimes between different heritages of the same region).

So should you be curious , just ask him why... And remember to not instantly judge but rather support and understand. Also don't push for him to just do something... take into consideration that his situation might be more complicated than you can see.
