What are some cultural views on appearance and aestheticism?

The Chinese have a term called Qizhi which most dictionaries translate as disposition or temperament, and since I do not know the precise meaning, it seems to relate to social composure, subtle unstated dignity, and behavioural smoothness when it is related by a man.

As a female, my top visual trait in a men is their cultural and mental ambiance and my top social trait in a man is their mental fluidity, their underlying or extraneous psychological boundaries, and their subdued personal energy.

It differs by culture. For some Japanese, it’s clean and well dressed, such as women in kimonos and men in suits. I personally don’t look into this too much, I think it’s being used to conform and hide true culture in my opinion.
