Why do my guy friends constantly bring up my dating life?

I’m noticing a pattern where my guy friends will brings up my dating life quite a bit. I talk about other guys in my life and they say things such as “Maybe you should date him.” Or I say I have plans on the weekend and they ask “Are you going on a date?” Is this just friendliness or something more? I feel they’ve been subtly flirty before but I can’t tell whether or not this is just normal guy behavior.

Not everything is about “what a guy would do”, sometimes it’s just about what a friend would do in general regardless of their sex, and your answer could lie right there. For example, do you wonder if your female friends are flirting with you when they ask about your dating life? Or would you equate it to them being nosey?

My female friends don’t ask about my dating life like this. That’s why I’m specifically asking about male friends.

That’s fine, this was just a hypothetical, and in this hypothetical scenario, if a female friend were to ask you, would it incite the same response?

Most likely not, which is why I don’t think that instances like this relay romantic interest. If these guys were blatantly flirting with you in the past, that’s different and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ve learned over the years that rarely ever (next to never) do men and women stay platonic friends from start to finish UNLESS there are certain aspects in place.
Such as:
-one doesn’t find the other even conventionally attractive or the feeling is mutual.
- one or both already have either a significant other or someone they’re seeing
- one or both are part of the LGBTQ+ community

Otherwise it’s more than likely that someone will catch feelings along the way, and honestly why not? Already the elements for a successful relationship are in place: you have a lot in common, you’re consistent with keeping in touch with each other, you enjoy similar hobbies such as going out to bars or whatever. These are key features you’d want in a successful relationship, so if you’re both at least conventionally attractive, someone is going to catch feelings eventually.
