Do women pay attention to a man's hands and what they look like?

My hands are constantly beat up and scarred from mechanical work and metal fabrication. It's hard to keep my nails from being dirty. Is this attractive or unattractive?

Here's a suggestion. It will help you stop asking these yes/no questions. Because what's next, asking if they like black shoes or prefer colorful shoes?

Have taste. Not "a" taste, but sense of taste in general. Not a preference. Start perceiving what women sense.

Why would a woman want to be asked out? Probably because she's bored. If that is the setting you are asking out at, then double check that you are capable of curing the boredom. If you can't cure boredom, then find someone to approach who's not needing her boredom to be cured, or else you become a burden.

If you just have a D to share then you'll only get someone who just needs a D. If the only semi "unique" thing you can permanently offer is calloused hands then find someone in need of calloused hands. Not all women like it. And i get it, you want to know if it's "masculine" because it'll fit someone feminine. But even if so, you might not always be happy with the results. Because it goes both ways. You know that extreme feminine shit, excessive gossip, not having her own decision about absolutely anything, needing to be spoiled way too much -- just because it is ultra feminine doesn't mean men like it. Similarly doubling down on masculinity is not the key on building a relationship. ㅤ

You should consider some form of hand protection if you don't already, especially if you plan on doing welding as concerns over your long term joint health can be in danger.

Now fingernails are the first thing girls will notice regarding your hands, but as long as appearances are up, I wouldn't worry about scars or rough skin. Girls don't expect guys to have soft hands or they'd date girls.

Girls know you do tough work and expect your hands to reflect that. But still, don't neglect your long term health by dismissing the possibility of workplace accidents.

I used to work in a steel fabrication company, a few men died there, I've seen videos of men killed in lathing accidents, give anything enough time and an accident will happen, make sure when it does, the motto of the day is "wow, I'm so glad I prepared for this"

Scars can occur from work. Little you can do about the ones you have. But dirty hands and nails are usually not a plus.

Do regular maintenance. Go to a nail salon every week to keep them as clean as possible. It'll be a nice treat for you. Don't worry that it's not masculine. It's masculine to care about your cleanliness and looks.

Most salons massage your hands and wash and clean your nails thoroughly. You do not have to get nail polish. They'll buff your natural nails.

Your only problem with doing this is, you'll probably look forward to taking care of your hands! Also, remember after bathing to use good lotion or hand cream. If you're able, wear protective gloves while working to limit skin damage. Good luck.

I love rough, masculine hands…scars and all. Makes me curious about everything he can fix 😆. Hard work is always attractive.

Now dirty fingernails? Not my fave paha … but I’d just kidnap his hands and give him a manicure myself after work lol

I work with my hands every day. And they are calloused. Everywhere they are big and they are rough, and I've always had women to grab ahold of my hand they have to look at it, they have to feel it, but I've never ever had any complaints.

I take baths instead of showers. Soaking in bath water usually gets off what normal hand scrubbing doesn't get. Sometimes it can be pretty hard to get off though. It can stain the hands and won't come off no matter what you do.

I see a lot of mechanics wearing those latex gloves these days, or whatever they are made from.

No we don't pay much attention in my opinion. But dirty nails if noticed ARE unattractive! It's OK if you are working and they are. Or doing gardening or some such. But by time you go on a date they should definitely be clean.

Hands can reveal a lot , hygiene, grooming, and even how someone carries themselves physically. It’s often subconscious, but well kept hands can signal care and attention to detail.

I like hands to be clean, but understand certain jobs will stain them. Mechanical work is one of them, gardening another. There are a lot of products to remove oil stains, and nails can be clipped short.

Wear your gloves. Get a nail scrub brush and buy some mechanic's hand cleaner, the one that smells like you could light it on fire. No girl wants dirty fingers in her fun box.
