Have you ever been made to get food for your boyfriend?

I'm working on myself and my health first before entering the dating world again as I'm currently unprepared.

I saw a show where a man in his 60s was in an arranged marriage with a young woman. After they tried for a child, he said "Go fetch me some pickled herrings".

I really, really hope a guy wrote this for satire, and a woman didn't have an actual husband send his wife on some "fetch" mission for food instead of getting it, himself.

Ladies tell me, has a man you were dating ever unironically talked to you like that?

"Fetch some herrings"? That is not acceptable for a 5 year old boy to talk like that to his mom, let alone some old dude to his "wife".

Please tell me men are not acting like this with girls they're dating. I'd expect to get smacked if I ever did that cause that's just unbelievable that a man can't be bothered to get his own plate and makes his spouse do it for him. Have you seen this in your personal lives, ladies?

MADE? I don't think so, but I've gotten up to go make my guy a plate a few times. It's polite and caring.
Once my guy's mom ASKED me to go make him a plate, so I did. But I've never felt forced to do it. Getting it is just ladylike good manners.

But him expecting her to get up and do it all when he was perfectly able bodied in this scene irked me.

I felt a twinge of shame letting nurses fix my IV bag instead of fixing it myself, but I was on thin ice with insurance coverage.

The only scenario I'd let someone get food for me is if I'm paying them through Doordash and tipping, or if I was so sick I was physically unable to stand on my own.

Even then, I'd ask and accept their answer if it's no. Him telling a woman to get up and get food for him was just... Ugghhh. I really hope nobody is actually doing this in the real world

I can't believe any grown man can sit down and let someone else bring food to their bedroom for them unless they're physically incapable.

I felt bad when I was in the hospital with an IV which kept breaking and I had to keep calling a nurse to fix it.

I asked if I could fix it myself, the nurse laughed and playfully smacked my arm. She was right, If I had put one finger on that machine, I'd have been fried with my insurance.

This was resolved by me agreeing to have a PICC line put in but still, I felt ashamed to keep calling them, making them come to me.

The idea of a grown man demanding someone get him food and bring it to him when he was perfectly able. If I was ashamed to call nurses when I needed antibiotics to kill my lung infections at the time, how can a man triple my age act like that and not feel shame?

That's what irked me in this scene and I really hope a guy wrote that to tease himself, or something, I really hope no man is acting like that to his wife.

You know, it doesn't make you any less manly to let people take care of you. Demanding it and being rude is one thing, but you're taking the extreme in the other direction where you feel like you're burdening nurses when it's literally their job they get paid for to help you

I knew we as a gender are a mess, but "fetch some food"? At least a few hard slaps from his lady shall be in order
