Does a woman chasing a man kill the excitement in a relationship?

I remember there was a very attractive and kind women that liked a less attractive and normal behaving man, and the interest was mutual in the beginning, but she tried too hard to chase him and he lost interest in her. It does not matter how attractive you are, men are not programmed to desire women who chase after them.

Guys chase to get the girl interested in the beginning. Historically, the guy will do the approaching and eventually the asking out and then try to impress her on a date... If the date goes well, the woman does the confirming her interest by texts, phone calls, showing she's available, even doing the "pop over". She will chase to let him know she's interested. At least that has always been my experience.

Maybe sometimes. But not always.
My father always told the story about my mother, his wife. "I chased after her until she caught me."
They had a long 40+ year marriage, producing me and my sister, until he died.
