Is he just busy and hurting, or actually not interested in me?

Exchanged #'s with a guy I'd see around. We texted for over a week. He said he's desperate for connection and having trouble making friends. I invited him to an event. He said he could make himself available". OK I thought, Im going either way with it without him. The night of the event i bump into him and his parents at the elevator, they got off i got in. He said Hey, I ignored him because I was late.

Next night he sent a text saying his mom found my number in his apt. And that it was a fun conversation.

I asked did she know it was me at the elevator or someone randomly. He never responded back- 4 days.

He's parents are in town. Also last week he asked if I wanted 2. concert tickets, snd I said why did someone bail on you. Hours later he confessed a girl back in his hometown is not comming out and he expressed his disappointment and sadness.

At this point, this connection never had any intention on either or our ends. I figured He's busy with family and hurting from the girl who bailed on him.
