Is he really interested in me or busy?

I reached out to a guy I used to work with along time ago. A week ago I messaged him asking how he is and he said doing great and so on. Then he told me he's glad I reached out. We were texting back and forth for a whole week both asking each other questions and turns out we like a lot of things alike and we kept making each other laugh. About 3 days ago he asked me if we can go out to watch a movie and get something to eat that its on him. I said yes for weekend coming up. Our convo kept going as usual then 2 days ago he says he likes talking to me. So the part im confused he barely texted me yesterday and today I feel he's keeping the text short or he leaves me on read like I dont get it not sure if he's busy or what but I feel if he really is into me he would find a way to message me

Your age says your between 25 to 29 years old. I assume he may be around the same age. With the interest he displayed before, I'd guess he's had a spike in his life activities and is busier than he was before. Or maybe when you guys talked before, he was off work? Maybe. Bring it up to him and ask directly why he has not responded.

He did end up messaging me back and said he wants to make sure we will see on Saturday and that he's buying the movie tickets and food. :)
