Have you ever broken your own dating rule/rules?

Question

Like have you ever gone ahead and dated someone who was typically not your type or preference, not the right age, etc. Or you had sex on a first date when you normally are staunch about not doing that? Or you had sex period when you said you would wait for marriage? Or anything else you have strong rules about for dating?

Funny I did some research the other day about hypocrisy. Truth is we are all hypocrites to a certain extent. Hypocrites even to ourselves.

But the difference is do you feel shame about your hypocrisy? How do you react when someone calls you out? Do you change the subject, try to rationalize it or worse double down on your bs?

Anyway I’ve broken plenty of rules over the years. Chief among them was tolerating disrespect from women. I tried to rationalize it to myself that “oh she still likes you. But she’s a woman. She’s just testing you.” But my gut knows the difference between a woman sh*t testing vs. her just having no respect. I gave too many second chances to wrong women in the past.

My ego couldn’t handle the fact they just didn’t respect me. It’s a bitter pill to swallow when somebody has little or no respect for you. But the older I get the more I realize that there will always be someone like that no matter who you are.

Anyway I won’t tolerate that bs nowadays. Don’t care if I’m lonely. Because there are worse things than being lonely.

1. She has to either ask me out out, or at the very least make herself clear she's interested in dating me. She doesn't want to risk anything she doesn't get anything.

2. No women with height requirements. I'm WELL OVER 6 feet tall, that's not the problem. I'm sorry if you have hangups about height but that is NOT my problem. I find your hangup off putting (sorry, not sorry).

3. I will consider a woman with A child "A" as in one. But understand you're going to require more vetting than a woman without children (sorry, not sorry).

4. NO FACIAL PIERCINGS of any kind (earrings are ok). Let's not waste either of our time. This is not changing

Preferably no tattoos. But a SMALL one that isn't visible is OK. Again, this is not changing. I don't care that you consider it art, it's not.

5. I'm not one to tell anyone how to dress. But if you dress like streetwalker than you want to date someone else. Again let's not waste eachothers time. You want respect? Start by respecting yourself. Thank you.🙂👍

I don’t have particularly strict dating rules, but I do sometimes avoid going on dates with certain types of men.

I know myself very well, and I know which personalities I’m better matched with. I’m high energy and loud and just all over the place sometimes. I do have my quiet moments randomly.

I’ve been on dates with men where I had an inkling that it would be a waste of time, but I didn’t want to assume, and some men can be very persuasive. I don’t want to judge a group of men based on my past experiences with them, so I give them a chance, thinking this particular guy might be different.

And I was proven right. However, that doesn’t stop me from sometimes going against my better judgment.

When i was a young man, i did things that violated the rules i have now, but they did not violate the rules i had at that time. I have fine s free things that, in retrospect, were simply stupid but they didn’t violate any rules per se.

OMG , honestly I have broken so many of my own rules , mainly in my 20s when I just didn't care , I'm very fortunate not to have an AFL team of children , I went though a stage when I just did married women , over a period of time I did 11 different ones and all these relationships went at least 6 months , was really exciting.
I had a hot Cougar when I was 18 ( she was 27 ) she did everything for me , very funny in highdsight , she wanted to mother me , but also loved the fact I was 18 and could just cum - cum - cum.
I went out with a couple criminals ( in fairness I didn't know till later , well presented ) ..
I had affairs at work , I had affairs with clients ( multiple jobs ) ..
I can't think of too many rules I didn't break , but while doing all this I was always single myself , and I only have 2 children.
It was in the most part of truckload of fun however , not many bad moments.

I used to say I would only date someone who was neurotypical. I thought it would be too difficult if we were both neurodivergent.
