You don't know each other well, the date might tank, no one should be stuck with the check.

And until you're an official couple and decide something else for whatever reason that would be, let each pay for themself.

Then you go to reasonable places that don't overburden either party. I also say go on inexpensive dates to start.

I would say the man. I always did. It's a way of showing appreciation for the time and trouble a woman takes to look pretty. And the money isn't a big deal. I think it's stupid to stand on the principal that women should pay their share if they want equal rights.
I support equal rights, but I still treat women as women.

There is also the fact that I was always good at choosing women who weren't high maintenance gold diggers.

Each person should pay their own way. Either split the bills, or one person pays for the activity and the other pays for the food/drinks. That way it is fair to both and nobody feels obligated or used. It is better to start out that way because even if things do work out, a relationship is supposed to be a partnership where BOTH people's lives improve by being together, not one person using the other for resources.
