If a woman is still single at 40, does that mean something is wrong?

like I’m almost 37 and let’s say I meet a woman who is 40, and she’s never been married, there’s gotta be a reason she rejects so many different guys. I probably should look for somebody who’s closer to 30

Age doesn’t determine the quality of a woman or a man. A woman can have different partners or even a marriage history and still not be the right person to share your life with, and the same applies to men. Some women have high standards and want someone truly compatible with them, and these women may remain single at any age. The same thing applies to men as well.

But what I understand from your perspective is that you are not right for each other, and the main issue seems to be your viewpoint. You seem to think that a woman is only acceptable if she has had a marriage or lived with someone before. However, some women have strong values and expectations, and if someone does not meet those expectations, why should she waste her life?

Not always, but yes typically if someone is that old and still hasn't found a good relationship then they are doing something to cause that.

You should definitely spend extra time vetting her. Yes, there is something wrong. Or at least there WAS something wrong. She could have been very picky in her youth. That isn't inherently a bad thing. But a portion of women get panicky at and especially approaching 40. Because ALL women know (whether they'll admit it or not) that late 30's and 40 is the dating version of "last call". And you don't want her grab you as her "bailout" guy. After 40 she can still get a man. But not without making significant concessions. After 40 sexually speaking a woman becomes a liability. She's got to have a lot more going on for here than just what you see.
