We all have heard stories about how men can live with their girlfriend for 5 to 10 years and still no ring. Then he met another girl and proposed to her within 6 months.

Intelligent men won't get married, but they will be in an exclusive long term relationship, live together, and raise a family together. All marriage is, is a way for women and courts to abuse and steal from men. It has nothing to do with wanting someone else, but everything to do with not wanting to be abused and ripped off which is what happens to the MAJORITY of men that have been married.

From what I’ve heard from men regarding this, if he takes that long to propose, it means you’re a placeholder while he looks for the woman that he actually does want to marry. And if he can’t find her, then he will settle for you. That’s why you can be with a man for 10+ years, never be proposed to, and then he finds another woman and proposes within 1 year to her. It’s because you were never the one that he considered as his wife.

If a man takes too long to propose, he doesn't want to be married to his partner. If you want to be married, don't let a man string you along for years. Once you are dating exclusively, about 18 months to a proposal should be enough. If it's not happening, end it.

Not always, he might be struggling to make ends meet. A lot of girls don’t realize the financial cost of a marriage for a man. There are many (but not all) women that expect a beautiful ring (which is expensive) and for the man to cover the cost of the wedding. (Also not cheap)

I would lean yes, but he might not know own it. I know how I need to feel about a girl before I marry her. If she doesn't meet that bar, I would hypothetically end it. I only intend to date for marriage, and I'd be wasting both of our time.

Not necessarily. I think it could also mean that he's excited about the novelty of a different woman and is riding an emotional high.

It's safe to assume he is unsure about something, unless he is someone that has sworn he never wants to get married. If that is not the case, it is probably time to move on.
