High School Musical lied to me.
I didn't get to burst out singing in halls. There weren't 50 interesting events going on at the same time. Real high school had way more school, and way less music. Relationships did not end nearly as perfectly.

But I guess I shouldn't have expected much similarity; this was Disney after all.
The transition from middle to high school felt like a big one, especially for a thirteen year old. The whole notion of no longer being a senior of the school was a bit worrisome, or at least it was for me. But I guess I've survived so far.
Now with one year left, I'm a tiny bit excited, quite a bit tired, and very much so lazy. Nonetheless, I'm going to try to pull through without stumbling over the same stones from my first few years.
You can laugh at me if you want... well, I'm also laughing at myself. :)
1. Stressing out.
So... the assignments were no longer drawing maps and filling in blanks. I kinda feaked out when I started getting like a whole 5 pages of textbook homework a day. A whole FIVE pages! And then came the quizes... Oh no!!!

Looking back, the marks there really didn't matter. I mean, you obviously had to develop a good study habit, but there were other important things to do as well. For example, breathing.
3. Getting involved in too many clubs/teams.
I wanted to join debate, football, DECA, volleyball, badminton, writer's craft, robotics, art club, french club, student council, science club, track and field, reading workshops, and athletics council. ALL OF THEM.
And so I tried... But alas, I only have five days of school a week, and I cannot be at three places at once...
4. Quitting every club/team.
The same year I wanted to join all those teams ^, I was suddenly so upset by some "huge life dilemma" (I can't even remember what it was), that I quit EVERY SINGLE ONE. Why? Blame it on me being a emotional, impetuous youth.

But seriously, it was dumb. Maybe I wanted the attention or something, but rage-quitting sure didn't help me solve any problems.
5. Being overly dramatic.
So... he said this and she said that... OMG, that's like, so ratchet! *squeals and screams*
It's not a movie, and we aren't Mean Girls. I might be exaggerating a bit, but not by much. I was never a really loud person, so I didn't exactly "squeal" per se, but I sure did over-react a handful of times.

Looking back, I really didn't have to hate on the poor kid who people were "shipping" me with... I mean, it wasn't even his fault :O
6. Broadcasting relationships.
I actually did the complete opposite... as in I told literally NO ONE about the people I was dating/seeing/in some sort of relationship with. I still don't quite know why, but it may have to do with my dislike of being "permanently associated" with a person.

Like I said, it was silly of me. Though I also find it awkward when people broadcast their relationships everywhere, to then move on a week later. But each to their own.
7. Diverging friend groups.
This was one of my greatest struggles. I had friends within all kinds of cliques, and I personally did not associate with any one group completely. I kind of just skeddaled between different people all the time.
This was kinda good and kinda bad. I didn't have enemies and most people knew of me, but I also didn't have many "best" friends.
I woundn't really refer to this as a struggle, but just something I've always had to consider.
Sleep is also something I wish I'd gotten more of (hence the missing #2)... I mean making that history poster till 5 am really wasn't worth it.
But saying and doing are completely different as well...
I'm sure highschool seems like a piece of cake compared to life later on, even thoughh it feels like a pretty big deal at the moment
