Two Things to Consider When Reading Anything

We all have in a moment of our lives read something that has caught our attention. In this site we have blog-like posts called "MyTakes" where users can share their opinions about any (allowed) topic.

But, have you ever wondered about whether or not they might be wrong, if they know or not about the topic, or if what has been said is true or not?

Although we may or not be “experts” in a certain area or just fans about a certain topic, here are two things we must consider when looking a topic, and mostly if it will somehow change our lives.

Two Things to Consider When Reading Anything

"Experts" have a necessity to "be right", despite the bad results.

Many people have the imperious necessity to "be right" because their long years of formal education and professional practices have taught them an specific way to perform their job.

We all may meet a person who insisted in maintaining an opinion obviously wrong about a certain topic, even though it is clearly illogical and untenable.

By nature we all want to be right, and everyone, by nature, resists to the possibility of being wrong. Due to our human nature we all tend to hold on what we have learnt and after many years of practicing a profession it becomes harder to accept that there might be other distinct solutions to the ones we've been practicing.

If you say "what is acceptable", we publish your study.

The first goal of many researchers is to publish their research in a prestigious magazine. It’s the main way to contribute to the "search of truth".

Being able to publish a research is also a way to obtain credentials and to receive approbation and recognition. So, if someone decides to publish something that might go against the "acceptable truth" they'll surely suffer, and lose many benefits that are received.

Here is my advice: whenever you read, listen, watch something think about it, and meditate about if its real or fake, just because an “expert” or someone with “authority” says it is right, it will be.

Remember what both military experts Chang Yu and Sun Tzu said once:

There are commands of the sovereign which must not be obeyed.

If you know the correct form to proceed, don't wait for orders.

And apply it to your lives.
