I would say it's not fair to the millions of kids who aspire to become rich youtubers but won't cut it because it's essentially random, like the lottery. No one has explained as much to them in blunt enough terms, because we're all a bit new to this.
It's not really a fair comparison, winning a competition prize is a big pay off for the person at the top, because they're the best. I'm fairly certain the best doctor, best engineer, best lawyer, etc. In the world earns more than 3 million a year.
YouTubers don’t make much because of YouTubes new “advertiser friendly” rules. A lot of YouTubers videos are getting demonetized for no reason or for really dumb reasons. Also copyright being an issue too
Life isn't fair in general. If the winnings cup amounts to 3 million... Then it's fair. If you have to play a game that is you amongst 99 other players at once, and you win, you must be doing something right.
I think it’s fair. Gaming is apart of our culture especially for the youth. Only a fortunate few get paid millions for gaming. They work hard and have a huge following.
This os honestly not a smart question. It's not like they are given that money by government or something, they earn it by themselves, u can do it too since it's easy right? Then do it, what r u waiting for?
Lawyers should be making zilch. They should get a bullet in the head, not money.
The saddest part about killing all the lawyers would be the 3-4 innocent ones who die too, but it's a price worth paying.
You don’t know anything about law then. What a stupid demented answer.
@The6ix I'm a dockside lawyer, ask me any question that only a lawyer would know, scamp.
Oh wait, you can't. Because you know less than nothing. I don't know, maybe you can wing it, maybe you can ask Google, "what's a good question to ask a lawyer?"
How much money do you make?
And do you think its harder than science just curious is all
lol ya okay buddy, you say you're a lawyer and you're advocating they should be killed and not paid a dime, so that applies to you I guess.
lmao that makes no fucking sense then
Getting paid and winning a cash prize are two totally different things.
I mean it is not fair. But it is fair that anyone has the equal opportunity to win and get famous through YT or other means, even doctors. An instance is Dr. Pimple Popper
No it's not fair, and I'm okay with that. But tbh people that come from wealthy families with medical backgrounds have a much better chance of being successful in school. That in itself isn't fair, but nobody complains about that so...
Well that one particular gamer won a contest, and yeah I think it's fair, gamers put countless hours of no sleep into what they do, as much as I'm a gamer I could never put that much into it. What I think is NOT fair however is how much celebrities and sports stars get paid as compared to people who fight for their country
Public service will never make as much money as generating money for private enterprises
Yes it is they got 1p or 1 cents per view its not like a wage that they get paid for every video unlike doctors etc. Its just how it works youtubers get paid less than doctors they get 1 cents per view but the views add up in the end its neither fair nor unfair its just how it is
Sickens me just as much as athletes and entertainers getting paid that much. But our society values entertainment over what really matters so ya probably won't change.
The market is such and the demand exists , the investment higher and the instant gratification higher.
Turn over is also instant by the second and all based on alorgthims
I dont think it's not fair but in a way its isn't at the same time. People will throw money at anything so if you can make it into a career and get that kind of money, go for it but like everything else have a fallback and work hard at it.
Yeah. Go ahead and try to play at their level. It takes more focus and practice then I think you even understand. Basically all pro gamers spend over 10 hours everyday training.
If it is so easy then you go do it?
Gamers, Youtube people like us are smarter. I still video games. Once it's hard at the game, I be in my Calm Zone. Play the game easy and figure what I have to do. Don't play games so it's so hard it pisses you off.
No, but they aren't paid the same way. Besides, doctors, lawyers, and engineers make plenty.
Teachers and police officers are the ones that are underpaid.
They're paid according to the money they bring in, like athletes, or singers, or actors... Doctors are useful, but they bring in much less money.
The more money you bring, the bigger is the part of it you can take.
Sure. They're not the first people to get rich without having contributed fuckall to society.
Not really fair in my opinion for that boy who won 3 million however normal YouTuber also take a lot of time to develop.
Still it's not fair on the behalf of doctors and engineers
Is this a serious question? I hope not. It sounds like some serious liberal dumbfuckery if this is a serious question.
Youtubers give a voice to us regular working class citizens. There are more human than it seems. Some are just walking commercials but Im not talking about those
I could get paid more than a doctor if I were to sell my knowledge - but I decided I want to go to heaven.
Well... Yes... Fair and fair they get paid more because sponsors and ads and all that shit. Doctors, engineers and so on dont have sponsors or big companies eorking togheter. Gamer/youtubers earn money pretty much as sports players do...
Choosing to be a gamer or youtube or influencer does not guarantee a stable income.
Aye it's not. We have to work towards it. It can all collapse in an instant
You dont understand how much time these players invest in gaming... just with dota I have 30k hours playtime... you need to have that time and you need to be better than the others, 2 things not everybody got
Plus, you know what ronaldo or similar get paid?
World is full of wrong payed people, first of all, politics, or do you think trump gets what he deserves?
I dont think it's fair but the world is unfair I think people that work in factories are paid unfairly.
In a way it makes sense they get paid a lot because you can watch there videos a bunch but you dont go to a clinic as often.
totally unfair a doctor studies all his life to save people and doesn't get the acknowledge or enough money. yt, players, barely study or they are just kids and they earn more just by playing games or making videos. i saw a news that the most rich yt in south korea was a kid with 6 years she bought a house that cost 7.2 million thats ridiculous seriously what about the professions that usually cost their lifes like firemans etc? but oh well this is the world we live today.
They're called entrepreneurs or entertainers. It's fine. The thing is fame can disappear but being a doctor or engineer is more stable.
It's part of the entertainment industry and as long as our society puts more stock/ care into that than anything else why should we be surprised that they are the ones making big money?
Maybe, maybe not. On the same note, should professional athletes get paid more than doctors, engineers, etc?
What does fairness have to do with it? I am an engineer and have zero problems with idiots wishing to lavish a kid with money. There is a market for it, do it.
I do t think it's unfair. The reason he won so much is because people are willing to pay that much to watch someone play. You can make the same case for entertainers, athletes, models, etc.
Does it matter whether it's fair or not? If so, why do you believe or feel that it matters at all, if at all?
Hell yes it's fair. They found a loophole in the System and they took advantage of it. More power to them! They deserve every penny they make! (And maybe more, because Google has a tendency to screw people.)
On average they are paid far far less. Picking out a handful who successfully became celebrities and successful doesn’t change that.
They earned it, i dont see why not.
Doctors just are college educated drug dealers, they dont have it that hard.
One guy one time won three million dollar anyone can win the lottery a doctor is a far more steady and reliable source of income
It's not like be gets that all the time. He won that now but who knows if he'll see more money come in for the next year or something.
You listed some of the highest paying jobs out there, they definitely get more stable money that's for sure
It is fair. Playing games is more fun than going to the doctor.
Remember that's when you sick asf and you go to the doctor's office to get better
@bklynbadboy1 So grasping jokes isn't your thing. But you probably have other skills. That's what makes America so great.
Is it fair that some sports stars make $30M+ per year while Pararescue Jumpers make under $50K? People get paid what the market bears.
It is all fair. The thousands of people who watch decided it's worth their patronage, and you think that a few dozen internet people can dictate morality over the market?
What's your problem?
Quite ridiculous if you ask me, but even reality television, a so-called "star" like Snooki gets paid more then a doctor. This is the world we live in, pathetic really.
Doctors engineers and etc have not brought joy into my life the way certain streamers have. Utitilatiran wise i think it's awesome they get a slice of what they're worth
Statistically speaking businesses and corporations CEOs make ever more money than all these combined. No body bats an eye about it.
As for gamers statistically speaking they are a very small minority
Those CEOs are the reason why people in entertainment can make money.
@TheKack oh yes, the ceo of a bank makes good games. Come on I am talking about big corporations
How do you think companies make money? They advertise. How do advertising companies make money? They charge for their services and pay other companies for ad time. And how do all of these companies get started? Loans and funding from companies. Game designers can't make games without funding. Funding doesn't exist without large companies. And every company needs structure and leadership. So, I don't know why everyone hates on CEOs and such. They make it possible for entertainers to do their thing.
@TheKack i don't hate on CEOs. Just the ones who try to make everything about themselves with shareholders money.
The seperation of ownership from management makes CEO quite powerful.
Problem is people who were responsible for financial crisis like 2008 where the Bankers get bailed out while a small business owner get swept away getting bankrupt. Basically bad CEOs. by the way, there are other ways of funding
There are other ways of funding, but none of them are reliable in the way as banks.
I'm not saying crap CEOs don't exist. There are stupid amounts of crap people in all areas though.
I just get tired of people acting like the funding comes from nowhere and just appears. I will admit that I took you to be one of these people, but you seem to have a grasp of basic economics that so many others lack.
I still think that people should always make the most they can, so we will probably disagree there, but I don't think we're too far off.
@TheKack I suppose.
Thanks for having this chat with me and not just telling me to piss off, it was good, I think.
@TheKack why would I say that😂
Because everyone is divided all the time these days. Even people that are, theoretically, on the same side because the extremism doesn't match exactly. It's always a pleasant surprise when I can talk to someone and it doesn't end with "whatever, piss off." Or name calling. Lol
@TheKack haha, I get it. Yeah that happens too
It's as fair as football, soccer, baseball players, actors, and musicians making millions of dollars a year. Entertainment careers can pay very well no matter what form it takes.
Yeah, one geek won $3 mil and then paid 68% in taxes, between federal income tax and capital gains tax, and then had to pay state taxes. So, he didn't really make all that much money.
Is it fair that football players get millions for kicking a ball? Is it fair that some win gold medals and some don't? Is it fair that people with out education win the lottery? It is what it is, now get over it.
Don't get too excited... it's about as common as getting picked up as a pro ball player.
Fairness is a concept that has no place in capitalism. You are paid what the market is pays. There's nobody that decides what you're gonna earn.
Absolute facts ☝🏾
We’re so oppressed, of course! (In reality kinda. They’re entertainers. Kinda like pseudo celebrities
Blame it on the stupid people that glorify and idolize them (such as the people who answered this question)... they're rich cause of them
No, but the same thing goes for everybody else in the entertainment and sport industries.
Why would it be? It's their choice. They put in the work. That requires a lot of training. Just different.
Just remember: If you think hospital prices suck now, just wait until doctors want more payment...
Yo but doctors and lawyers are shisters to begin with lol
Yes. If you wanted 3 million dollars you should have been better at fortnite.
The amount of people who actually do make that much can be counted on one hand, as such, it's no representation of how much they actually make.
