I fcking hate my new job. That stupidass recruiter straight lied talking about we’d do administrative shit and schedule appts and shit 😂 But nah, these hoes want me to lie to people about their house being fcked up and sell inspections to them.
I’m too ethical for that. I’m not going to lie to these people and I’m not going to meet the make 100 calls a day, 15 sales a day mark. I’m on day 3 and daily I’ve made less than 20 calls with 0 sales. These hoes got me fcked up 🤣 I’m just going to go ahead and save up these checks, jobhunt and prepare to be fired lol.
Now had this been something seductive, I think I could sell myself pretty well 😭😂💃 I mean, I’m quite convincing in that department. I knew I should’ve been a phonesex operator or some shit lol. Until then, I’ll continue to reach out to the recruiter who only replies once a week 🙃 and blowup the inboxes of the supervisors who hardly help with shit.
Thank goodness for the one guy, a hot one at that, who’s in our training class. He’s taken like 50 calls a day and is more helpful towards me than the supervisors and recruiter. If only he didn’t let his dog lick him in the mouth on camera 🤢🤮
But Life is great isn’t it? And on the plus side, I won triple at the casino last night so its all good 💰🤑💰 So I’m sitting here in front of this work computer, not doing shit but blasting music. I’ve only made 4 outbound calls within the first 2 hours of work. Fck these people ✌️

And did I mention we have to take random inbound calls and texts while also trying to make calls and send texts. Fckin ridiculous. They shouldve made me secretary because i keep getting calls from all the people my coworkers lied to and i have to transfer them over. Im a fckin switchboard at this rate. But Ayy my grandpa just rolled up with my pizza stick and fries. So i’m about to chow down. Ima sell this food to my tummy 😂

So we're technically not selling a bad product. Its the fact that they’re making people believe something is wrong with their current stuff so that they’ll want to get with us. Either way, its shitty. I actually got 3 willing buyers. But one said he wanted to discuss with his spouse first. The other, i didn't know what i was doing and didn't move fast enough for, and the third wanted to schedule to far out to so the company had us reject him 🙃💀

Worked in sales for 2 years and sold security systems door to door as well as outbound calls 100+ calls a day to for a marketing consultancy. Multiple people were fired every single month for not hitting their KPIs so it was definitely high pressure.


It takes a certain mentality to be good with sales. You really got to channel that side of you that is all about really strong grit and hustle. It’s almost like going into battle. Yet, you also gotta stay positive and friendly even after getting rejected again and again. It’s very mentally taxing work.


But, one of the most important things you need to succeed in sales is to believe in your product/service. If your company is making you sell a sh*t product/service, that will strip you of your conviction and motivation to sell.


Your company advertised your role as clerical work and then made you do phone sales. That’s such a different role that takes a totally different mindset and skill set. And, they’re telling you to be deceptive on the phone to sell your product. That’s a recipe for disaster.


I don’t think this is a sales problem, this is just a shady gig.

There are 'sales clerks' who are there to promote revenue and I have no patience to do that. I have been very successful in computer sales and internet tech support BECAUSE I ask a potential customer insightful questions, what they're hoping to achieve and their level of interest and experience. Once they realize I'm not just pushing high $$$ for the sake of sales and AM acting as both a liaison and THE CUSTOMER'S advocate, MY Clients become VERY loyal. You should see their reviews! My Supervisor however has to account to the 'bean counters' ..."Faster! Faster! Take MORE calls!"

You can have them LOVE you or you can treat them like chattel to be 'processed'. I PREFER repeat customers. The BEST advertisement is YOUR satisfied Customer. When I left Circuit City and later, Centurylink Tech Support... when 'My' previous clients couldn't speak directly to me, they had but ONE question: "Where is HE working NOW?" ... and then they'd hang up. Such was... THEIR loyalty! : )

Sooo uuuh, gonna read the rest of what you said when i get business done but no. I tried to be a salesperson at my first selling job. And I was still a doormat but I wasn't a piece of shi. I wasn't much of a seller because the people didn't want the thing. Hell, i got a business I run and I learned, if people want the thing, they will get it. Trying to break their arm into buying your thing is just gonna make you an asshole. But at my job, they wanted me to sell like in three calls or i gotta tell them. 6 calls, tell your mentor. 9 calls, they gonna shake you and ask wtf is wrong with you. Soo yeah, I don't think so. I don't force anyone to buy the product, and i hate upselling. That shi get on my nerves, on both sides of the counter. :)

No. I don’t sell anything very well. In fact it usually turns out the other way. Someone with a much better item, deal, process, or whatever, stumbles in and take the spot light like it was meant for them. Then I’m left stuck in my thoughts as I watch the person who I was pitching to get absolutely bombed with amazement. Then I think back to how they had a mug shot expression the entire time I was giving my pitch. Sooo, here the thing. I’m very knowledgeable in what I do and with that I can provide a lot of advice and insight to a problem. But, in any scenario where we need to make a decision on whether or not this “thing” is a money maker for the company… please just get someone else to pitch it. In my position I solve problems, I don’t sell them 😂

I actually used to do sales in 2009 and 2010, and no, I was f*cking horrible at it. I don't have it in me to essentially lie and scam people, which is what sales is. Not just that, but I often had to do cold calling, as well as selling random people useless bullsh*t like Search Engine Optimization crap (getting their businesses search top results on Google, which you know, should be illegal). Another sales job, I was selling f*cking Cutco knives. Yes, door-to-door knife sales. And another job, I was selling energy packages to people. Man, the Recession was hard.

At least your job doesn't sound like it's commission-only pay, like mine were.

It takes a special kind of person with a certain type of personality to be a salesperson. It sounds like that's not you, and that's okay! I can't be a good salesperson, either. I've tried it. I've said, I couldn't sell a nickel sandwich to a starving millionaire, LOL!
Selling is full of rejection. People will hang up on you again and again. You have to have a very thick skin and be able to take it, and let it roll off your back and not be bothered! You have to really like sales in order to be successful. You have to really be motivated to face doing this every day. If you like it, the pay can be very high. But it sounds like this isn't you. And it's all right. You weren't cut out for that kind of life, but you can be very successful at something else, I'm sure.

Yes I can be a great salesperson. I was trained for that by my dad. He is a well known business man (bike dealer) so he taught quite a few stuff about business and even made me do job in lockdown to gain a bit experience before I turn 18 and take over 15-20% of business.

Meeting call quote and trying to make a sale to earn money is a job I hate and actively avoided. Now out of curiosity, if you think you do good at phone sex, why not just do that?

Thats the thing. I’m good at the cold calling and smiling but i dont know shit about this companys products and stuff. They only trained us for a few days then through us to the wolves. They gave a hugeass guide to go through basically while on the phone with people. Like how tf is that helping either of us lol. We get paid hourly but commission for sales wooldnt even start til sometime after this month so thats also why i’m not even trying. And tbh, i prefer phone sex when i have an emotional connection with the person. In 2016 i got a bit addicted and would just help any horny person get off. I dont wanna revert back to that because then i get bored or the people get creepy and stalkerish lol

Sorry to hear it! To some degree, I think everyone has to be a sales person. At minimum you have to sell your skills to get a position that you would like. We have found that it’s more personality than knowledge in most instances. My husband is considered an expert in his field, agricultural science, but it’s his personality and kindness, not his knowledge, that gets him consulting jobs.
