So, I speak and understand (for the most part) English, sarcasm, gibberish, cat and squirrel.
I understand bits and pieces of Spanish, though my grandmother on my mom's side was born in Spain and my Spanish teachers in grade school and high school were not teaching Spanish from Spain. Two entirely different languages of two different countries. I would have enjoyed learning Sicilian, Swahili (this is not one of my nationalities) Portuguese, Italian among others. However now I don't have the patience to sit and learn.10 ReplyI know Hebrew sign some English sign
can write and read in English and Hebrew
Know gibrish/baby talk pretty well
I really want to learn as many langrages as I can, with Itelyen, Spanish, japance pretty high on the list

+1 ySpanish. Don’t really mind it. Bloated language. English most efficient. Most information conveyed per uttered syllable. And that’s compared to all languages. Until something better comes along. Emojis and urban dictionary aren’t those things.

Spanish is gorgeous
I speak English, Spanish, and about 1% of Korean. Korean is the second hardest language in the world to learn (Mandarin Chinese is first and Arabic is third), and I already suck at learning languages.
I also speak sarcasm, pig latin, and asshole. So 5.01 languages.
As for you... "Fluent" English? 🤨 I wouldn't say THAT!00 Reply
+1 y"I am fluent in over six million forms of communication..."
Actually, I know English, some German from when I took it in high school (though I'm not fluent), and am slowly working on American Sign, though I will need a lot of practice and probably need to take classes before I claim to be good at it.00 ReplyThe number of languages I speak is one half. I struggle with spoken English mispronouncing many words even though I am a native speaker of English. I am just not good at spoken language. Far better at written English than spoken.
20 ReplyI can speak English and Spanish fluently. I can also understand Italian and Portuguese completely when it is spoken. Some French, not a lot although I took 7 years if it at school. I am currently learning Chinese.

+1 yJust English. My parents always complain about how I should learn my home language but I never ever do. Honestly I knew it as a kid but forgot it slowly once I started school lol. I'm hoping to learn Japanese (it's my favourite language).

You should look up matt vs japan if you're really interested in learning Japanese

@AndrewAzul Thanks for the suggestion.
I wish I could speak more. I can only speak English and even that not so well. Lol! I have always wanted to be multi lingual though. I want to learn French and Hebrew most. But I don’t know. I have wanted multiple linguines over the years and they always change as to what my goals are. Haha!

+1 yAfrikaans and English. I can speak dutch as it’s incredibly similar to afrikaans, there’s some difference that I’m still learning but for the most part can write, speak and understand it.
Can speak a bit of Swedish as well, still learning.10 ReplyOutside of English, Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Croatian. My personal favorite is Italian. Had to learn the first two for family. Was trying to learn Bosnian, only found Croatian courses, so I worked with that and spoke with my Bosnian friend with it.

If you learn one of the ex Yugoslavian languages, you already know about 70%-80% of the others. So you basically know more languages than you think. 😁

+1 yBack in the `70's there were LOTS of Polish jokes going around and they were hilarious!! One was,
Bob: Can you speak Polish?
Fred: No.
Bob: What's it like being dumber than a Polack?
I speak English but know a few phrases and words in Spanish, German, Bulgarian, Telegu, Japanese and French. I also know what some British slang means.00 Reply - 1.1K opinions shared on Education & Career topic.

One of the joys of England and English, it’s different depending where you live.10 ReplyI speak Spanish, French (not fluently, but enough to manage), English, Tamil, Telugu and I can understand Italian if it’s in written. I’d like to learn an Asian Language, German, Swedish, Polish and maybe a few others!

Amy this is not Chinese, this is Japanese. A way you can tell is that Japanese includes wavy or simple characters like あいうえおかきくけこさしょすせそ in their sentences while Chinese only contains complex character like 我存在意義不有

Exactly @AndrewAzul

Japanese and Korean are pretty easy to distinguish. It just takes some exposure to the languages. Also Korean has spaces in-between the words. I agree that they are fairly similar, at least in grammar and some word pronunciation. I've been studying japanese since October of 2021. I don't speak it since I don't practice that, but I have an intermediate level of comprehension and understanding and can read manga and watch anime in Japanese. I know over 3000 words.

Andrew, I have been learning Chinese since the fall of 2021. I was bored from staying home so I thought it was a good idea to learn a new language. But I really wanted to learn Japanese. It was not offered online where I live, but Chinese was. I have seen Midnight Diner on Netflix, so good! I learned a few words in Japanese. I have also seen Korean novellas on Netflix. Love, Marriage, and Divorce; and My Secret Romance, both Korean. I learned the words for "yes" (deh?) and what sounds like cronika (which I think means exactly or of course). But yes Korean and Japanese are similar because of the history of those two nations.

The thing about language learning is that, systematic or structured institutions like that of a course or school are not very good at helping a learner aquire a language, what you've been doing (watching things in the language that you want to know) however, is very good! Immersion is the best way to aquire a language, so you can cut the middle man which would be any program, and start immersing, I also highly recommend a program called Anki for learning vocabulary.
