What grade do you think is most ideal for middle school?

7-8 is perfect. I was ready to get out of elementary in 6th and middle school was the perfect length and now I'm ready to go into highschool (I hope)

I see. I experienced the same but my middle years sucked so it’s hard to tell in my case but I always wondered what it would’ve been like to start middle during 6th grade.

Grade is completely unnecessary early on. The teacher can track the kids progress without involving grades. If a kid falls behind they need to take action otherwise let them be kids.

We don't do middle school here. It's K-7 elementary and 8-12 high school.

We do not usually have middle school here in the UK, everyone is shoved in together.

We start at 11 and then finish at 16

@chrismaster69 I like that program. With summer school and by taking the maximum number of classes each year, I had amassed enough "credits" to have skipped the 12th grade (senior year) entirely and graduate. My school district didn't allow that, so I was required to serve a prison sentence of half of my senior year before graduating in January (rather than in June). I had planned to attend the US Naval Academy and needed far more advanced math and science classes than were offered at my high school and used the extra months to take classes at a community college. At that time, you could not be enrolled in high school and college simultaneously. It sounds like you chaps on the other side of the Pond have a system which meets individual needs rather than one size (has to) fit all.
