Should I report this to the director or let the clients mom handle it?

I called out sick and reported it 2 days ahead of my schedule so that way my shift is covered. I come into work today and the mom asked me ,"what happened. You never showed up". Apparently, the scheduler didn't do her job by informing the parent. I informed the mom what happened the mom was then upset with the scheduler because she said the entire weekend she had no coverage and the scheduler didn't even call her. So I asked the scheduler if she let the mom know and she said ,
" um I don't think she was informed." Like how dumb can she be? This isn't the first time she's messed up I feel at this point I need to take it to the director.
Should I report this to the director or let the clients mom handle it?
