Do librarians make a lot of money?

I was on a cruise years ago and chatted with a guy who asked me what I wanted to do after I finished university and I told him I wanted to be a librarian and he told me he worked as a librarian for 25 years. I was surprised a librarian would earn enough for a cruise to Hawaii but his wife was sitting next to him so maybe she was the money maker.

Maybe ones with an MLS who work at law libraries or big university libraries.

It is on the teaching salary schedule so teacher librarians make whatever a similarly educated an experienced teacher would in their district. Public branch librarians in the states are also civil servants so they make whatever a similar title grade with similar education and experience would make. The dollar amounts tend not to be particularly impressive, especially to someone from the background which your post seem to hint at, but from the admittedly little I’ve been able to gather about you from your posts, I do think it would be a good fit for you.

Yes they make a lot of money (with an MLIS degree). Their starting salaries are around 60,000 and head librarians at universities can make at least 100,000 a year. Academic librarians have to compete for tenure track just like professors do though. If you like competition, then go for academic librarian, but you can make the same amount of money without competition at other libraries or technology companies that need librarians.

Good question. They can. Some places require a masters degree - you can’t listen to the people who say masters is expensive because that usually only applies to private or expensive state schools. After a masters you can actually find some fairly well paid library jobs 56-100k a year where I am.

I am at a state school for the masters program for the version results and being able to teach school library media. 56 seems about right for a tenured teacher where I am.

Many librarians do make lot of money for there investments to add in stock in the stock market to give enough investments to save up for a dinner date maybe just take it easy for while before dating

No, librarians are generally very poorly paid. Like most vocations.
