Watch the video. The class was taught about stranger danger and offered treats as bait. I find it effective but also a bit traumatizing. I don’t think the video is wrong but I think I’d rather just teach my future kids my own way at home. Whats your thoughts?

Seeing them cry is heartbreaking but I do wonder if parents pre-approved this part of the class. #FeelFreeToList

No! I would not. That can cause trauma even of it's very effective. I would teach my kids a lot of things and when they get older i will teach them to fight/self defense and even take them to any kind marshal art practices. My nephew is 4½ years old and my brother us teaching him to hit back not to go with strangers anywhere nor take something from them. But this is too much

I think they’re a little too young for that lesson. They looked like they were 3 years old. It’s pretty unlikely they’re gonna even remember the lesson but will probably just get PTSD whenever they see someone wearing a trash bag. Plus, I would never let my child that size play on his own anyway.

Yeah by age 5-6 is when you have to start reminding them there are bad people out there. But by the time they’re 12, they are able to take better care of themselves.

I dont even trust fam. When you look into biopics and shit, those are the main people doing it. Like i trust my mom with kids but not in terms of feeding them right. I want my kid to eat more heathily than what she’d feed them. I trust my grandparents but not with kids. My grandma has low tolerance and my grandpa has hearing problems and if a kid gets hurt he may not be able to hear them call for help. My sis recently has mental issues. she's good with kids but her thought process seems off. Extended fam can go to hell. I've never trusted them. So at the end of the day, the kids better of withh me and i’ll hire someone but have them in cam

The kids were clearly traumatized. I think the lessons most likely learnt were

1. don't go to kindergarten; its a scary place.

2. Be afraid of cheap plastic poncho raincoats and plastic bags.

The effort would probably be better directed to emphasis parents must not leave children unattended.

Who leaves children that young alone anyway?

You dont really have to be alone to be lured. Parents could be paying the cashier and the kid could let go of the parent and wander off just that quickly

Or the mom could be too busy chatting to another mom and let the pram roll down the street! That actually happened. I saw a pram rolling, ran after it and just caught it as it jumped the pavement kerb onto a busy road. I was surprised to see a baby in it because as I was chasing it, I thought no mom could do this - it must be empty.

Nah parents should get eyes in the back of their head.

@DevinAM Interesting. I had thought pram would be a universal word but obviously not. It is quite funny how US English and other variants can differ - to the point we don't understand each other.

From google, a pram might be a baby carriage in US English. Essentially a bassinet on wheels for up to 4-6 month old babies. In Australian English, a stroller would be more open for older babies. Seems we follow UK English on this but in US English a stroller might be a pram but google wasn't clear on it. :)

Wow! That is so sad! I mean it clearly worked but damn! That was a scetchy lesion. I have always been a firm believer in homeschooling and would not be willing to send my kids to a public school unless it was absolutely necessary. For reasons like this specifically. Like you said it is much better at home in your way.

I trust a public school more than a provate school. I’d prefer homeschool if i was able to hire someone like celebs do rather than teach the kid the basics myself. But lessons like the above, I prefer to teach myself

Umm like wise!! And yeah I mean I would definitely want to do my homework so I get a curriculum the kids can actually learn from that isn’t as dependent on my knowledge or lack of… but I get that point of view

It's a method. Like an anti Santa Clause thing. Wouldn't want to end up fearful of the environment they're in but it's a fine method. I think something like this is necessary at that age. Kids can be way too trusting when surrounded by a majority of decent people. Really depends on the kid and if I felt my teaching was effective enough for them.

Yea im not gonna even do the Santa Claus thing with my kids because that shit hurt 😂 One Christmas eve, my mom said “you gotta help me sit out the gifts so your sis doesn't see”. I was like wym, i thought santa brings them 😂😭

Oh no! Like that's a pretty harsh way of finding that out and I completely agree. I talked my mom into not continuing the elfs on shelves and Santa and all that with my little brother. My mom and grandmother came up with their own version of the tooth fairy called a tooth angel for me growing up and I was real hurt and conflicted about the lies and cried for a couple days. And tbh it's what helped lead me away from Christianity, made me compare how much faith and trust I was taught to have in those characters and felt like God could just be a more elaborately laid out version of those. So I have a hardset no on the Santa/fairy stuff for my kids. I'm irked that it's still such a dominant part of a kid's life these days.

I won't be doing tooth fairy because some kids try to knock their teeth out for money 😂 I’ll prob give an allowance when they’re 12+ but kids under that do not need money and all these gizmos and gadgets. Toys during Christmas and bdays seems more than enough

Agreed I'd rather had an advanced laser tag set instead of an iPad or video games even. Air Hockey table. Like there's some nice fun useful stuff out there that turns the cogs a bit more. I'd probably hand the kid some money to go buy something here and there but I'll keep the money until around that preteen age. They have to prove some responsibility first but yeah. See also in my fam money was a constant gift for the holidays and bdays so I'd imagine my kids would have to deal with money early on almost certainly. "Money is not worth pulling your teeth out for" is definitely a good lesson to learn lol.

Yes. They need to be taught the same thing about Christ, politics and the way of the world. All my children will be taught to love Christ, have conservative views and how terrible the world is today.
