Absolutely. If available, check out the company’s dress code or uniform, and wear something similar to that. It makes you seem more experienced if you already know what clothes to wear.

That said, if you're okay with lying you could hypothetically dress however you want. Say you just came from some event that makes you sound responsible, like you attended a society brunch and that's why you're overdressed, or you were helping a friend move and that's why you're dressed casually, or you were entertainment at your nephew's birthday party and that's why you're in a dinosaur costume. I have a friend who does this type of thing to make herself stand out to interviewers, and arguably it has worked. But that's just anecdotal. And you absolutely cannot be late with this.

yes, you dress for the job. You don't wear a suit and tie to get a job running heavy equipment, yet you don't go to an interview for an office job wearing coveralls.

You want to be attractive enough to be considered a good brand ambassador but not so attractive that your bosses or co workers have illegal thoughts about you. If you have a naturally beautiful body and face, then you would benefit if you wear more conservative clothes to maximize your results.

Yes. You need to make a good first impression and people can form opinions based on it. At some point you may also need to represent the company you are working for so you wanna dress professionally.

That's a nice dress and you look amazing but it's too revealing for a job interview. Wear something a little more conservative. That dress would be good if you were applying for a job at a club or something.

The interviewer is trying to determine how good you would be in the job you're applying for, and that involves your skills, not how good you look.
