What's bad is randomly there is an emergency I need to handle that can range from driving out to a location even after hours or holidays, to having market changes that mean I have zero or even negative income during any given month period. So it's mostly just being able to react quick to issues so the "machine" keeps running.

I don’t have a career as of now. My life’s work or passion. The thing I’d pledge to for all my days or so.
I’ve worked jobs without pay (volunteer).
I think the special things I liked about those was the “togetherness” and family vibe.
We laughed and struggled together.
Maybe it wasn’t even a struggle but irritating lol
Folding silverware/ long bus rides.
Anticipation to win the game.
The joy when we’d win or closing hours came to be.
The bliss of life when playing with the dog and him showing me what nature does at its finest- to just experience life through the five senses.
I mean, if I could’ve gotten paid for that- it would’ve been nice, but I don’t think I’d like being currency focused when around such fine people like that. Almost seemed like a crime..
When you find true love… any talk of money becomes the crook. The thief. The elephant in the room.
When you’re satisfied. You don’t need it.
Life is so much more. 😊

+1 yIt's a State job, so we get all major holidays off!
My boss doesn't micromanage me. She gives me an assignment and expects me to get it done on time: and I do! Way less stressful than having a boss constantly checking on me all the time.
Also, it's not -that- stressful of a job. I work for physicians and residents: they're like big kids... free food works miracles in most cases! Lol. If they're happy, I'm happy.20 Reply I love my job, I'm a young woman in a male dominated career. I love what I do and I'm very good at it and always willing to learn something new, I have a very flexible work schedule, as much travel as I want and I'm paid very well, so the job itself would my favorite thing.
10 Replywell everyone likes me and the work i do. i didn't waste my degree, i'm working in the industry i went to college for. plus, my toxic coworkers are finally all gone and moved jobs and i never get to see them again or feel like shit again because of their negative thoughts, so i've been feel so much better and more comfortable at work. workplace negativity/harassment/toxicity is no joke!

+1 yHopefully not that much contact with computer screen.
I am changing careers from Engineer to do MBA. In the hopes that the screen time gets reduced by some amount.
Engineers have nearly all day screen time. Their work is on computer. Screen time has adverse health effects. I do not want that.
So I am now studying for MBA entrance exam. I am in 4th, final year of engineering, so it is pretty cool for me.

10 ReplyAt 64 I am looking back more than anything else these days. About a month ago I was watching a video taken in Belgium. They showed a brief shot of one of my Electrical Substation designs. It's hard to watch that kind of stuff and not develop a shit-eating grin. I guess the favorite thing about my career is I have one that I enjoy and feel like I am making a difference.

No, I like it because I think it keeps me closer to nature and all that 9-5 stuff. I like doing things with some level of autonomy
10 ReplyI don’t like ‘having a career’ it it feels suffocating, my dream would be to build passive income and be free from this. I’m not lazy at all but yeah, would be nice to be able to decide if you want to work or not lol…
11 ReplyMy independence. I work (sort of) remote: I travel for work. So I don't have a boss breathing down my back. My job is easy: I take pictures of houses for the insurance companies. And I usually get Fridays off!
10 ReplyFull time pay, part time hours; much of my day spent being on GAG while on the clock and getting paid. It's laid back and fairly easy. This is legit the ONLY good thing I have in my life right now.

+1 yI wouldn't call my job a career but what I do enjoy about it is that nothing is the same. As in its not the same thing day in and day out there is always something different going on at work and no customer has the same exact issue
