How would you feel if a family member contacted your place of employment wanting to know your business?

My sister got pissed and went to my work yesterday asking why I was sent home even though I told her it was due to high labor metrics, which is true. My sister said my manager would call her today concerning the matter. Honestly, what right would they have diverging information about an employee without the consent of the employee? Secondly, can they actually legally discuss another employee's business with family, or is that a violation?
