Would you hire someone with work experience, or someone that has made a course?

Unless a degree is required experience weighs heavier.

I studied five years. If we're talking only knowledge useful in my current field I gained more the first six months of working. I however would not be legally allowed to do parts of my work without the degree.

Having educations remain wide in scope and being forced to last a certain length does result in a lot of knowledge that while potentially useful translates quite poorly to practical efforts.

Depends on work.

A builder you would go by experience, but a teacher you would go by certification.
