I had a meeting yesterday with two of my bosses, one I had an issue with and the other one was there (I thought) for a neutral party. I had an issue with the way my boss spoke to me on Teams chat. So I wanted to have a meeting and just express why I feel the way I do. Instead the meeting turned into my manager rejecting my view and just saying she did nothing wrong and that I’m overly sensitive. My other manager also chimed in his own experiences with me to add to the argument thar I’m too sensitive, etc. Then the manager who I felt did wrong to me started crying and saying I’m insulting her and that she’s going to get HR involved. So I left the meeting feeling like the problem rather than the victim I originally thought I was.
I an totally stunned, shocked, embarrassed, and sad. I just can’t get over being villainised like this. It’s now Saturday and I can’t stop feeling sad and reliving the situation in my head.
Any tips for letting work things go? Normally I’m pretty good at compartmentalising but not this time. I feel really let down by the management system. I’m not even worried about getting fired, good riddance if they do let me go. But I’m just in shock I guess about the way the meeting played out. Quite frankly, I feel bullied.
Honestly that's some sick shit what just happened. How the manager psychologically just flipped the situation to make themseem like the victim. Interesting. All I know is narcs use the term sensitive to bring you down because you have feelings like a normal person. Also, not sure if this is the right term. But psychopath?

A manager crying in a staff meeting? So much for an impression of authority. 🙄 No matter what you were supposed to do wrong, she might have the wrong position to begin with.
No one cares how you are feeling at work. Get the job done or move on. Work is not a counseling center...

How people talk over Teams or Zoom is not a big enough issue to fight management over.
