What is the most embarrassing punishment in American schools?

I personally think it is embarrassing that punishments are even allowed...

When I was attending school the teachers and the principals were allowed to spank. One of the teachers was also a district judge. He called me up in front of the class and had me bend over on his desk and he took a paddle and gave me two swats in front of the whole class. That deterred me from doing any more foolishness while attending school. The class that I was attending laughed about it it was talked about for a few days that alone was punishment also. Too bad they do not allow corporal punishment in schools to this day it would probably stop a lot of this crap that's going on because my feelings were hurt. The sad thing is when you got punished at school by the time you got home you were punished there also.

Well, I teach kindergarten in illinois and there is zero corporal punishment being doled out. If a teacher ever put a hand on a kid, they'd be fired - and yes, it has happened.

In fact, the consequences for offenses in grades k-5 are laughable and inconsistent.

Even the kids will tell you punishments are a joke. The worst punishment ever given is missing recess and having to sit in the office.

Kids were paddled when I was in elementary school. The paddle hanging up for all the students to see was enough to deter students from the mere thought of doing the stuff kids get away with doing today.

Just a note home meant a spanking and spending a day or two in your room. Not being able to go outside with your friends after school was worse than any spanking.

The most embarrassing punishment is being kept after school, missing the school bus, and having to call your parents to pick you up, or walking home.

Having to go up front of the class and give presentations or write an answer on the chalkboard. Why the heck do they require this crap?

Hard to say. I think the idea that a kid who is being attacked getting suspended or expelled for knocking the bully on his/her a** should be pretty high on the list.
