Is it strange if a male boss in his early 30s calls his female employee in her early 20s "my love" at work in the UK?

I often heard "my love" or "love" from young women and elderly here. Never heard it from young men. I am a foreigner and didn't grow up with endearment term, so I added some information about ages in the question.
