Undercovered this at the age of 60. Now 75. Can speak over 15 different languages. All by just involving himself in the environment of those languages that he learned. By again, acquiring. Listening, hearing, and absorbing.

Sure. In fact, it's not necessarily hard since so many languages are related to each other.
If you learn Spanish, you can learn Italian, Portuguese, and Latin reasonably quickly. In fact, it might just be easier to study Latin. Same with Greek because the alphabet is slightly different. Once you master that, you can more easily learn any Cyrillic language like Russian.

It's when you are forced to deal with new language structures that becomes challenging. For instance, East Asian languages - Chinese, Japanese, Korean - use a different kind of language, so you have master those fundamentals first.

Believe it or not, there are parallels in computing languages, but that's a long story.

I never saw the point. Seems like a waste of time and head space to me.
Unless I move to that country or join the CIA, I'm not gonna spend years learning a new language on the off chance I might have to use it once in my life lol

There's a small window in early childhood that you pick up languages easily but it gets harder as you age. However some people are naturally good at it, especially those who can differentiate between similar sounds.

You can still learn at any age but I think you need proper guidance not just immersion or you'll get lost and confused.
